Sterling Nova 😍🥰
Australian version, the Purvis Eureka F4, with the increased headroom via the raised roofline. Still has the original bonnet and instrument pods, but with the F4's flat engine deck and louvered engine lid.
Sterling Nova licensed version of Nova from Uk
I had one of these for about 5 years in the 80s. Chucked the VW engine for a worked Ford Escort 1.6 complete with front mounted radiator and custom bodywork (skirts etc) and pop up lights. Then a Toyota 2TG Twin Cam with Twin 45mm Webers. Man that thing flew as long as you could handle oversteer a la 911.
I used to own a Purvis Eureka Sports - great fun even after I rolled it once - mind you neither of us were hurt in any way.....

Nice! though the hood looks like it needs securing down; its raised on the front by an inch and they are known to flip up and "meet" the windscreens

A friend of mine had one 40 years ago when it first came out. Back then it was called the Sterling and then the Nova, and then about five other names. It's still just a VW with a fiberglass body. Plus ca change, plus ca meme chose.
Nova was first , it was designed and built in Britain then came Sterling and others built under license , the Cimbria was a reapoff and was sued
First Nova in the UK, then licensed as the Sterling in the USA, Purvis Eureka in Australia, Puma in Italy, Eagle in South Africa, Noreca in Malaysia and several others.
Beautiful car, but , no wipers, no front indicator lights , no side mirrors, no reverse lights . Won't pass Australian roadworthy, nevertheless BEAUTIFUL. !!!! Ps. What kind of engine does it have. ?

Back in the 70's the distinctive putt-putt of the little Volkswagen engine sound as these things drove down the street kind of gave the super car image an absolute hammering.
In Australia where the Sterling Nova was produced as the Purvis Eureka, we had a number of people change over to the Ford 1.6 straight four water cooled engine from the Escort, to the 13B Wankel rotary from the RX-7, and the Subaru motors, which were capable of turbocharging and supercharging and other modifications, producing between two and three hundred plus horsepower in a car weighing about 1100kg tops. I am pretty sure that Dr Ferdinand Porsche who designed the original Beetle would be staggered to think people were modifying his budget 'people's car' into such a fearsome looking and performing weapon, 80 years after he first built one!
A replica kit car of a old kit car but im glad to see it back no matter who makes it . If you are selling it as a kit let me know im interested i have clients looking for such a sweet ride .

@@automophilecinematic i dont think outlaw customs are building them i think they just did this project for you . but i did find a the company that now owns the molds but they are not up and running yet . They will be reproducing with a newly designed frame and be able to take a bigger engine . You now own a part of kit car history if i was you i would hang on to it ,,im working on a cheetah evolution right now wich now comes in kit form i bought the rolling chassy and body for a little under six grand .
I found who bought the original molds and they are willing to sell full kits to me . The best part is u can get better engines than the vw engine and newer chassis.

I know a guy who owned one of these many years ago. He went for a drive one day and the electrical system for elevating the roof failed. He had to kick his way out of the thing.
fortunately that is not happened to us during the shooting

Why wouldn't they show the engine ??? Is it a huge wind up rubber band? All that work and they didn't fix the front hood.
