Thanks for sharing! Would love to see a getup with the FD and the 860, and also hear your thoughts on the 860 vs 850 and 980!

The 860r pop up is just a touch slower than the 980s both will easily start into the wind . The 850s is a bit harder than those and need to run across the swell I use the 158 rear on all 3 . The 770r with the 175 tail starts same as 850s . Medium fuse on all . 980 surfs amazing and when it’s bigger the 850 rules . The 860 & 770r in clean small waves are both tons of fun . 980 is most stable for DW but obviously the 860r has way more glide but it can be a handful in messy conditions. The 860 has a mental good pump as well and by far the best for connecting bumps .

Rob, how much of the time are you running the FD in this one? I can't seem to stay on swell yet (just wind chop), but I can downwind at a good clip with only 25-30% throttle, and that is its own kind of fun. Are you running like that with the FD usually on and using the swell to get a much longer run from your battery... or are you doing something else?

If you are not free riding bumps 10km is pretty well max distance you'll get. What shortens this is bad pop ups eats into the battery. To play it safe keep your DW runs to 7 or 8km that way you can stay on the throttle the whole time with heaps of falls. I'm up to 20km runs but that's with heaps of free foiling and pumping.
