Its incredibly sad that games like these can be bought for 5$ but worthless skins can go up to 30$.
They can go for a loooottttt more than that, see CSGO.

Smite is so guilty of this, 100$ for a skin when I can get two whole 50+ hour games that’ll have me balling at the end….I’m looking at you xenoblade3, even better I can spend 100$ getting quite a few awesome indie titles.
You know, this game actually had a demo at Sonic Amateur Games Expo a year back, great to see fan game makers like Lake Ferperd and Kaze Emmanuar break into the main industry.
I've been digging through the eShop for something to buy with my leftover eShop funds and this game looks to be the exact thing I've been looking for. If it weren't for this review, this game might've flown under my radar. Didn't bother with the demo, just bought it straight away. The review told me all I needed to know.
This looks gorgeous! I often think games like this for such low prices do often give me more joy and excitement for games as a medium than a more normal full price AAA release.
I don't understand why there are so many "cute" games these days. As an adult man with three kids, it's kinda off-putting. My wife came across me playing a cute game the other day and she whispered in my ear "You're making my d*ck soft." (FYI... she's quoting a Dave Chappelle skit). To be frank, I get it. They are d*ck softening.
This looks so LOVELY! Thank you guys for sharing it and giving it a spotlight. Just by looking it, I know it’s an instant buy, and that I HAVE to follow this developer! It’s also giving me massive Demon Turf vibes, which is also a fantastic platformer with amazing art direction
Demon turf is sooo good and has such fluid and good controls but the level design feels like it can be a bit better to fit the jumps, still worth 20$ especially when compared to what’s happening in recent years
Never thought I’d see the day where people are making nostalgia projects for 3D PS1/N64 style games
Reminds me off when Toree 3D was talked about as an excellent game with a fantastic price tag

Reminds me a lot of Toree, another ultra cheap platformer that’s surprisingly good considering the price. Never heard of this game but I’ll definitely check it out now!
Nice thing is, Toree IS a guest character in Lunistice you can play. Provided you unlock him. Little bird is faaaaast.

Love that so much great games come from germany like this or CrossCode.
i love the combinatin of late DS early 3DS low polygon style but with modern hardware removing the technical limitations (ie having proper view distance & framerate)
This game is easily worth $15, it's really good.

Oh hey, I played a demo of this back during SAGE, it was called Eversleep back then. Good on them for changing the name, it sounded like a prescription sleep medicine brand or something lol.

Bought the game the day it came out and imo it is hella worth it. The game is fun, cheap, and has more than great replay value. Controls like a dream personally
Saw this so picked it up on Steam to play on Steam Deck, unverified but it runs perfectly so far. Controls are a bit overly sensitive by default but can be changed in options, as well as a hi-res mode enabled that looks a lot nicer (more Dreamcast than PSone).
Controls are frustratingly sensitive. I uninstalled the demo because the movement felt really jarring, but I didn't see the option to tweak them. Maybe I'll give it another shot
@@HamLover17 Dropping to 50% was much better but judging jumps is still kinda tricky even with player shadow enabled and unlocked vertical camera. Might try turning always run off too.

The gameplay style feels like the perfect mix of MegaMan Legends and Sonic Adventure. Absolutely love it!

This reminds me of Super Lucky's Tale, but with too much jumping for my taste.
Level design is good, it's a bit like suzy cube, the graphics though not a fan

Not sure about the Switch version but on Steam this has a hi-res mode. Its still retro styled but not as painfully pixelated as this, more Dreamcast than PSone.

It’s hilarious to me how Nintendo Life will occasionally make a video on these 3D platformers I’ve never heard of that are surprisingly great *and* dirt cheap, like with Toree 3D.

@@eyyyy3265 I tried it last night. The demo is pretty short (4 levels total) but it’s very classic platforming. That’s totally my jam, so I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ll probably jump on it. For $5, I think it’s worth it

2:40 could have done without the shots at my favorite genre of game. You can say the game isn't a collectathon without insulting collectathons. Otherwise a great review. I'll have to check out the demo for this.

Man, to think that this was developed by a guy whose Let's Plays I used to watch over a decade ago...
NintendoLife has an outstanding batting average when it comes to small indie titles. From Gotta Protectors on the 3DS to Toree 3D and Toree 2, NL says "this is a good indie game" i just buy it.

I tried the demo, and wow this feels like what a good first try at a 3D Sonic game could’ve been on the Saturn. It’s got a speedy, arcade feel with enough speed spectacle stuff with added exploration. Reskin the main character as Sonic and you’re pretty much there. Considering I spend $12 on a lunch out without batting an eye, I’ll be happy to pay $5 for the whole thing.

I bought the first one and began playing, it was cute and competent but i fell off it very quick..just couldn't hold my attention
i get that
it does get a bit repetitive but
new mechanics do get introduced every world
and the humor just keeps hitting hard
in my opinion the big problem with the game is the simultaneous mobile release
i can definitely see how some features might have been cut for the mobile simplicity

I don't know how many might feel this way but i have a growing adversion to games with bottomless pits everywhere for you to fall in. It even put me off continuing the octo expansion for splatoon. Too tense when every lil movement can send you flying to your death..

Having played it through, no jumpscares or anything. But Toree himself is playable! If you want a tough, non-horror Toree game, this is it!
