My excuse is I've only been back in NZ 2 years after 30 years in Sydney Australia. Yours looks absolutely stunning! Especially with the rose. The colors go together so well. Now I have another 'must buy' climber on my list. I am gradually creating my garden from what was 1/4 acre of bare grass (and weeds) surrounding my country cottage. Two of my bare root roses arrived today and will be in the ground tomorrow. Love your garden.

Rose gardening has become increasingly highly popular in the last year. You have to place your orders in the fall, or winter to get the varieties you want. Or go visit your local nurseries, as early as February and March. I prefer online ordering.

I plant mine 18-36 inches apart! That way they don’t have any gaps between them. Upright growing roses go closer together and the more arching roses - little further apart.
How do you keep your roses free of Rose Sawflies? Mine have so many holes on the leaves, it’s so sad :( I used a Neem spray and would hunt for them and squish them, but they’re not enough.
