FIRST PeaBee flight with my INSTRUCTOR - SUB70/Ultralight/Nanolight

  • First flight on a Sub 70 for Mark Hilton (CFI Airways Airsports) had the opportunity to fly my Flexwing PeaBee nanolight/Ultralight. It was really good for him to fly my machine to understand just HOW MUCH FUN they are. I'm please he managed to give me some usable content and came back with the same silly grin and giggles that I do when I fly it.
    Please let me know if this video has been of use to those looking to get into sub70 flying in the UK and I hope these video help those that love flying in any form of aircraft.
    Kit and equipment that i use for my Vlogs:
    Flylight PeaBee Sub 70 with reserve chute ( 75kgs).

      Yes. I live in Idaho and have a Northwing ATF with a Wills Wing Falcon 4 Tandem (huge wing, 229 sq ft). I put a Vittorazi Moster Silent on the trike. Great engine.

    That was awesome Giles. If I had the spare cash available I would seriously consider one. Mark made it look easy. Thats because he has "Super skills" and he didn't get them from "Super Training" either. Booyah. He got them from lots of hours flying and practicing:)

    Any review full of smiles and giggling and a wish to purchase beats any rating system. Perfect, Hope my Airborne V-Lite sub 70 is the same? Still waiting on a propeller. Each time I watch one of your clips I look forward to it more 🙂👍

      Hi Rob, he was being heavy on the power at the point. Its normally 5 to 5.5 lph. I want to try a 3 blade prop to get it sub 5 lph. With a 25 litre tank..woohoo.

    Such a great little aircraft, it even makes fuel! From 59mins of flight time to 79! Gotta get me one of those fuel generator add ons!

      Hi Ollie, yes the Tiggy calculates the flight time on the fuel flow, so if you back off it increases the duration. I hope Australia is treating you well.

    purchased an ANT mid summer.....wondering where to get a compass like the one on your PeaBee. I have searched the internet and not found a single one. I live in south central Montana, USA and am ready to solo as soon as the weather cooperates. Use to fly hang gliders, getting old, can't run anymore, loving flying these flex wings with an instructor....soooo much fun. Your videos have been pure pleasure for me. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

      Giles, I have a PPG question regarding safety start using covered propeller fixed to side of the ring with netting.
      Does clutch design the way that if prop fixed to netting, would not engage in accidental high RPM? Is that correct? Can you please clarify this to me.

      Don't fix it to the netting, fix it to the spars. You'll still burn the clutch out either way. If the engine has gone full power, the netting surviving is the last of your worries. I'd just start the thing on your back. If it won't then there is something wrong with the motor.

    I think every instructor should fly a single seat similar to this so that they have a good experience reference to tell their students what to expect if that is what they are going to solo on.
    I'm still on hold with my aircraft registration with the Govn.

      I completely agree Patrick. I was more worried when Mark taxied back in that I was going to get may PeaBee back. :). Do you know how much longer you are going to have to wait for the registration to be completed?

      No idea. I did get my self declared medical back already which I sent in after , different departments I guess. Got a friend waiting on his instructor registration which he sent in well before my aircraft registration - all up in the air I guess....or not🤣

    Some excellent videos. The PeaBee looks great fun. Would need some sort of adaptions for steering as I’m minus my left leg. I’ll have to look into it, until then I’ll be flying around in a GTR building up my hours and experience.

    Great videos every one of them. A great service to the flexwing community. For my info where do you place your radio on these flights? assuming you use a handheld is the screw-on radio antenna used or is there an antenna on the aircraft?

      Hello Flexfiend, I wished I found flexwing flying a long time ago. I just clip it onto the harness, awaiting a security lanyard but it really doesn't want to come off even when I want it to. Its a handheld which Ive registered with OFCom and have my FRTOL. I hope that helps

      Hi Casey, it's a tiggy fuel gauge system. I don't know the sensor, you'll have to contact Tiggy Aviation. Sorry I can't help.

      The only way is to find your local microlight instructor. I know that Flylight send aircraft all over the world. The best way to learn is to have local access to aircraft. I can't. Help much more than this advice.

      Hi Gerry, the distance between the outside of the wheels is only 4ft and 2 about 6-7 ft long. It would fit inside a box trailer with ease.

    No NO NO! I am going to have to tell the wife that you have gone missing or your channel has been closed down due aviation porn or something. She is now going MAD, thinking about PeaBee or other flex wing and what she could do with each. At this rate she will want both and I will be grounded to pay for it.
    All jokes to one side, I must admit I did look at a small flex wing for me but returned to my fixed wing roots, I can see the fun with the Pea Bee and would love to have one for that local flight on a summer evening, the same as I did in the past with a paramotor.
