    This was just what I needed. About to run my first trail half and your books have completely changed my form and endurance. I hope to be a lifelong runner and hope to inspire my young daughter. Love the trail focused content. Thank you!

    Thanks so much Eric for all your videos. I am constantly going out to improve my running techniques and strategies after watching your videos. I have 1 question not related to running exactly. But have you ever had a scary experience with the wildlife that you encounter on your runs?

    Thanks, thinking about down hill running as neuromuscular training is very helpful. Did a very technical race on Sat and it was hard to navigate and I noticed I was too slow so it seemed to hurt more.

    Thank you! Working on improving my uphill effeciency...something I always struggle with. In the race I run pretty fast downhill...no problem...but the uphill is a snail's pace...heart rate around 165 bpm.

      everyones HR is different, so just be sure you understand what 165 means to you. Now you can work on cadence and see that HR drop and the speed get better.

    I will try it! And can't believe I didn't think to do it already. Last year I was in awesome shape for a 50K, but the downhills killed me because of so many rocks on the trails, which I wasn't prepared for. It was very demoralizing to pass people on the uphill, only to have them pass me on the downhill. The trails where I live only have small sections of rocks, but with repeats, they can be long sections!

      Race success and strategy always depends on the downhills.

    Found out about your channel from Xeroshoes and subscribed in an instant, your videos are so well thought, I like it!
    I have one question even though it's not regarded to this video: does running with barefoot shoes on concrete / asphalt is damaging for the feet?
    I searched on your channel but I didn't found anything regarding this topic.
    I know we are supposed to run on "Earth" like our ancestors, but I live in the city and I can only do it on asphalt.
    Hmm maybe you can do a video regarding this topic with tips and tricks.
    Anyways, thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!

      Hello Romania. Focus on your form, and you can run well anywhere. Lots on the channel and books about form and foot strike. Shoes are just a tool.

    Excellent vid, Eric!
    Cadence/speed related question: during training, should cadence increase with speed? When I train at 180 bpm, as per my B2R2 training plan, I find that my cadence naturally increases during strides, hillpeats, on trails with lots of up/downs, etc.. Should I just do what feels natural (increase cadence), or should I keep my cadence around 180 and focus on increasing force production vs increasing cadence? I'd love to hear some of your thoughts on this.

      The key is to master running EASY/Slowly with higher cadence. Cadence will naturally increase with faster running and why faster running is good for you. Dysfunction takes place when running slowly with poor cadence, so focus on this.

    Do you still reguarly do the upper body exercises from your The Cool Impossible book? I do not see it emphasized as much in the Born to Run 2 and your videos. I'm still trying to master them because I think they must all be important for the body to work as a unit
