How about getting rid of gas and oil subsidies to? Make it in the US, and you will need to bring in heavy tariff taxes because BYD would be able to sell EV's really cheap without making the batteries in the US. If you want to do this then I'm all for it. but just getting rid of EV tax credit alone, is not thinking things through.

I’ve been talking about this since musk decided to come out as a hard core trumper. He moves his headquarters to a red state that doesn’t allow him to sell his cars there. He joins a party that is against the very product he sells. If Trump wins, it will be interesting to see what happens to Tesla and EV’s period in the U.S.
Well it seems now that Elon is contributing $45M per month to trumps campaign so I suppose this trumps vance so to speak.

I guess keeping jobs in America is a bad thing. Sure get rid of tax credits and import everything. Heck import the made in china M3. Cheapest made for America right.
Elon said Tesla doesn’t need tax credits. Many of the money went to charging companies that specializes in broken charging stations
I’m definitely not buying if the tax credit goes away. Im sure it’s not just me. China market has shrinked massively after removing subsidy as well.
It doesn't bother me if the $7,500 goes away next year .
I'll either buy a Tesla by the end of the year and take advantage of it or I will not have that pressure to buy a new one, fear of missing out, and will happily buy a used Tesla within much cheaper price tag.
That isn't an option right now because I make too much money to qualify for the $4,500 and find the car but not getting the extra bargain would be very irritating.
This will push ev cost down. It's a plus IMO

Elon Musk said," It is not needed. Delete it." The tax credit comes from tax payers. I can afford to buy a new car. Why should people who can't afford to buy a new car pay for my tax credit?

I wouldn't worry about it. Car makers will adjust their pricing and get creative with financing to overcome it. There were car deals before the tax credit, and there will be after. Sure it sucks, but let's see how auto makers react.

With Elon now officially endorsing Trump, maybe Elon can influence him enough to help develop the US EV market instead of tearing it down.

The EV Tax credit predated Biden. Trump wants all options on the table. It seems that for EV’s to thrive they need to be better than any other alternative. Simple. Price, Value, quality, drive ability, and technology.
He also once said some stuff to trump … but he had to change his tone and course and he did and the same will happen with this.
