  • A superb hike to the summit of Dunkery Beacon and a circular 6 miler around the Exmoor national park in Somerset.
This was day 1/3 on my hiking trip around Somerset and the weather was nice and clear with some spectacular views of the ocean. I came across some lovely red deer and horses on the hike up to the highest point in Exmoor & Somerset.
The route I followed is available on All Trails:
    www.alltrails....
Parking is FREE at the trail on a first come first served basis but there was a few spaces left when I arrived. The postcode is TA24 7EE.
I stayed at Porlock bay view campsite for 2 nights which has glorious views into South Wales and the Bristol Channel. The site has a hot shower, dish wash area, toilet and a fridge/freezer. I paid £15 per night for a one man tent and car. Further details are here:
    www.pitchup.co...
Dunkery Beacon stands at a height of 1,703 feet.
