    Hey Kamon, I know you hear this a lot but I just want to add my thanks for sharing your experience with us. It takes time from your day to make these videos and I wanted you to know I appreciate it. Even after 21 years, I can see how much you still love working with the bees. I hear you say "I just love it" in nearly every video. Keep up doing what you do as long as you can.

    Also totally agree with old(er) comb if you know its origin.

    Kamon! I am excited to get out there and split my hive. Your videos keep me going with the love of the bees and nutrition and the beauty they enhance❤ I am so thankful to be a beekeeper 1 full yr in May. I am proud to say I caught one of my swarms and it worked 3 weeks ago(1st ever) I have 4 hives now and hopefully I successfully split 1 more this week. 🙏. May God bless you and yours for all your hard work. P.S. I just bought the gloves, I hope its not forever I want to go without like you. Been stung about 40 times mostly bc I had difficulty with the smoker staying lit. Pine needles and burlap and wax. Hope wax in there is not a stupid idea.

    Hi Kammon, I'm a second year beekeeper with limited comb. I fed sugar syrup this spring to get my girls to drawn comb. The flow has really started here in central Kansas and I have a hive with the second box filled with sugar honey. Can I extract that and put the frames right back in the hive to capture the Clover and alfalfa nectar that is in full bloom ?, Thanks, Scott

    • @heavymechanic2
      @heavymechanic2 Před rokem +1

      Yes, extract the syrup honey and save it to fed back to the bees. Put your wet comb back on the hive, the bees will make repairs and back fill it with the stuff coming in.

    Kamon, I'm new so having trouble in one hive getting them to draw comb. About 2 weeks ago I found several queen cells so decided to do a split into a 5 frame nuc. Moved queen and resources to the nuc and left the double deep queenless. Bottom deep was fully drawn but the top deep was only about half drawn. I've been feeding 1-1 but they have not drawn more since the split. I inspected today and actually watched a queen working on emerging. I closed up the hive and let them be and hopefully she gets mated. Problem is most of the comb is being backfilled filled with pollen and nectar and there is not much open cells. Any suggestions? Your supposed to feed to help them produce wax but it seems their just storing the 1-1.

    Kamon, up here in the north of Iowa where it gets down to freezing for a few months, where do I want the brood boxes to have honey, just one or two end frames each side and around the edges? Don't they need a lot of honey in the bottom box or two to help protect them from the cold in the winter? I know they 'move up', so although you keep talkin about the danger of them back filling, don't they need that honey down below to keep them warm? Or should I pull honey deeps during the summer and then throw them on the ends during winter? Is it okay to have bottom boxes with nothing but eggs and brood and no honey?

    I have a double brood box colony that has charged queen cells. There is still room for the queen to lay. Why could this be happening? There are a lot of bees but there is still laying room. I feel like the only things could be that the colony wants to replace the queen although I don’t see a reason visually. Or they need to swarm. But again there is laying room. What else should I be looking for?

    Beautiful frames. I'm having trouble with my combs ending up bowed or convex/concave. Some of it originated with warped foundation that i foolishly tried to use anyway. But other times the foundation seems fine and they end up curved anyway. It makes it a real pain when lifting frames, lots of rubbing. Is there a trick to getting nice flat combs that are even on each side. What foundation do you prefer right now? Thanks for all to excellent content.

    • @jerryhyland1554
      @jerryhyland1554 Před rokem +1

      i have noticed that some plastic foundations are taller than the gap they fit in making it look warped. They need popped out of the frame and the plastic foundation needs an 1/8 " trimmed off the botton then it will slide a bit and should flatten out.

    • @jimallen1176
