We need a two stroke version of this video also! Ive heard all different takes on cast vs forged for 2 strokes

Forged aluminium expands more so that's why you need a little longer warm up as the cylinders are cast and also warms up slower than the piston. Don't know if it also happens on 4 strokes but on 2 strokes you can get cold seize if you run hard without warming up.

I've never had an experience running a part, etc. that went AGAINST the old adage of, "you get what you pay for." I'm not saying it never happens, where a cheaper part outperforms a more expensive one, but it's the exception, not the rule. That being said, we all have different budgets, and I've never owned a new bike. But I always put the best parts I can afford on my bikes.

This is exactly why the best pistons are now 3d printed. You can't mill the most efficient bridge box designs. We've got 3d printed pistons running 1400hp in 6cyl applications and no problems, while 10% lighter than forged.

You said "piston" right on the first attempt in French.

  • @Digitaltiger123

Had a friend who did 50,000km on original piston on a 04,only rings and pin changed every 4-5k and not always,a forged will never last that much

The OEM Honda Rods are Forged. All the pistons you shown are all forged pistons, including the OEM Honda Pistons. None of the pistons you shown were cast.

I learn a lot more from your videos than I do most other dirt bike related channels on CZcams. The way you explain things is very clear- which is genuinely appreciated. Because the content is both informative and interesting, it always makes for good viewing. Looking forward to the next video.

When doing a frame up rebuild on my 2007 RM 250, I went with a Wiseco YZ 250 GP piston (same one RC4 ran). My OEM cast piston still looked really good for its age. Just wanted everything fresh and to last. I heat cycled/broke it in as per Wiseco’s instructions to a T.
