  • The S10 gets new Lemons headers. I talk about what you have to modify and costs. Expensive

    You can see the difference in quality with your headers. They look nice.👍

      Really I don't think the pipes look nearly as nice as my Headman Hustler fenderwells.

    Rather than dumping into one big straight collector the merge and choke then taper out to main collector diameter holds gas velocity after the exit of the primary pipes and thru the choke then the following taper out to the collector is (enter head porter term) providing great pressure recovery to keep gas flowing properly. 👍

    Thanks for the information on Lemons headers I Talked with Mr. Dan Lemons on the phone nice and well Educated man.

  • @maxwedgedickdasterdly5586

    I bought Patriot 1 7/8 headers for $300 . 2 inch racing headers for Mopar B body Big Block are crazy expensive $ $ 1500 and up ! Im happy with my perfect fit cheaper headers. I started watching your head videos. If I could afford it I would have you do my Max Wedge heads. Your very good at what you do. Thank you for your shared expertese !

    You definitely need to try the Sniper again with no header leaks. I work for a Holley EFI dealer doing remote tuning, tech support, etc. pre o2 leaks are the worst thing for those Snipers. I bet it will keep up with your carb with no exhaust leaks.

    • @jamiebrown4322
      @jamiebrown4322 Před 3 lety

      With tuning for the new long headers the carb has even more potential power now too.

    • @DirtySideGetsDown
      @DirtySideGetsDown Před 3 lety +2

      Absolutely, the previous headers look like straight garbage compared to the new ones. I imagine much better track times no matter the fuel delivery system.

    A spacer will be ok if you get them machined to match your Center accentric hub and wheel centre ,so it actually sits on the hub and not just the wheel nuts holding it centred

    You would like a set of proper v bands on the exhaust some much faster and easier to install and remove, I’ve had good luck with them sealing good also! I hope it at least breaks into the 10s now!

  • @hqmonaro71
    @hqmonaro71 Před 3 lety +6

    Correct my if I’m wrong, but I think merge collectors increase exhaust velocity, the same way a choke point on a jet engine increases thrust?

  • @tomv7552
    @tomv7552 Před 3 lety

    That restriction point acts much like a 2 stroke tuned pipe, sending the pulse back to the valve and pushing that little bit of air fuel mix back in to the cylinder. That same pulse event also helps evacuate the cylinder of exhaust gases

  • @DChrls
    @DChrls Před 2 lety

    I believe the benefit from the reduced size outlet is from the venturi effect. What happens is the gas speeds up through the smaller section and increases flow. It also cools the gas some; on the outlet side.
    The size of the venturi matters because if it's too big you get little to no benefit. While if it's too small you get a choke point.
    I would love to see if a venturi would be beneficial in intake runners and if it is where is the best place for them in the runners.

    check that the upper A-arms don't touch the headers under full up swing. This can happen when you come down from a wheelie. It happened to me on a BBC 81 malibu. Made a hole in my Lemons headers.

    YOU CAN ALSO GRIND A LITTLE BIT OF YOUR CONTROL ARM..QUICK TRICK TO FIND EXUAST LEAKS, TAKE A 3 FOOT LENGTH VACUME TUBE AND A PIECE OF BRAKE LINE. I LIKE IT FLARED ON THE END. POKE AROUND AT SEALING POINTS, PUT THE VACUUM HOSE IN YUR EAR.

    Eric are you familiar with Swain Tech ceramic coating, it's not the cheap paint type that's applied 1 to 2 thou thick but rather real ceramic that is applied molten that welds to the pipes approx 15 thou thick. It's called White Lightning and is rated for 3000 degrees. I'v had it on my snowmobile pipe for 7 years and it's as good as the day it was done, I will be having my Headman fenderwell headers done in it, very effective for keeping the heat in the pipes.

    Lemons headers are expensive But ! On my 540 BBC it was running 9.98
    the 2 inch Headers a name brand not Hookers . With the Lemons 2.1/4 4 inch collectors the only change . It ran a 9.42 . They cost 1300.00 in 1998. Moral of the story you get what you pay for most times .

  • @ronbo422
    @ronbo422 Před 3 lety

    Merge collectors - enter in that whole low pressure/high pressure thing again. Behind the choke point is a low pressure area, sucking on that choke point and the gas coming through it. 4-strokes of an engine are suck, squeeze, bang and blow. Down in the collector there's a whole lot of sucking and blowing going on. :D

  • @bdugle1
    @bdugle1 Před 3 lety

    That $580 must be to hire the really tiny guy who can get inside those merge collectors to weld the spike in… Beautiful headers, though! Really wish you could get before and after numbers. Those Sandersons probably cost 50 or more on that 355 at a guess.
