  • This is a mini documentary about the Oromo People that I produced and presented on Annual Refugee Film Festival 2013 at British Film Institute (BFI), London. The main objective of this film was to create awareness about the Oromo people to the outside world!!! Hope you guys will find it interesting to watch!!!!! Please, don't judge me by the quality of the film, but the idea, because I already know that its quality is miles away from perfect due to various circumstances!! And don't get me wrong, I always accept positive criticism and do something better in the future!!!

Africa before Europeans came on one side it was one but on the other is was not a single entity because there were many thousands of tribes. I don't think we need to separate now into those many tribes. What we should thrive for is the freedom to be who we are in the boundaries that were set by recent history. So for Ethiopia, my prayer is that Oromo people have their freedom to their identity and culture while still being part of a great and beautiful nation. I come from Zimbabwe, primarily 2 tribes exist and we're one. Each celebrates their own identity and we surely have different cultures but the ultimate aspiration is living in harmony with one another.

But the others just said where they came from simply by there county name . You see , how ignorant this is . How come you began to understand this guys .

Yes, indeed. The Oromo have been marginalized, historically, hence the reason many of them do not feel like they're Ethiopia; because it is very difficult if not impossible to identify one's self with a state that is oppressing them/subjugating them/denying them their most basic human rights/and so on.

    • @quicksilver1752
      @quicksilver1752 Před 5 lety +5

No they didn't you stupid fuck. I know that you are referring to Bahrey's writings but even in that sense you are absolutely wrong and Bahrey was proven to be ideologically motivated and, incorrect and misleading in his writings by several different sources. But regardless, the land that is Ethiopia today was not Ethiopia back in those days. The current Amhara and Eritrean regions were considered Absynnia. It wasn't until the 19th or 20th century that the Absynnian government took over all the different regions that compromise Ethiopia today thus creating the ethiopian government. They are native to the land of Oromia, both modern day and ancient. It's just that modern day Ethiopia now compromises of their land when before they didn't. And they didn't "massacre" and amputate bodies either. That is completely false and made up information. No historical document or source even suggests that. Not even Bahrey. They were warriors and they fought wars.

I would love to see more information on Waaqifecha as indigenous religions are the way we should be and these falsehoods (yes FALSEHOODS) of Xtianity and Islam need to go back to their original birthplaces. The land(s) of our foremothers and forefathers are sacred enough; we don't need to look outside. (And to all you Tewehado Xtians, no we were not always Xtians. We were CONVERTED and Xtianity came more acceptable through COMMERCE. The Kebra Negast, the alleged ties to false Queen of Sheba, the mythological Jesus that never existed and has never been PROVEN to have existed...either lies or reinventions of more ancient traditions.)
That said, I am extremely proud and even relieved that our Oromo brothers and sisters have managed to hold on to their ancestral religion with no shame and no having to hide it behind a dominant religion. Bless all Afurakanu/it like Oromo people.

I was a Muslim oromo who had been converted from hadiyya ethnicity into Oromo in the oromo system known as "Gudifecha".
To come to the point; it is a good job to state what Oromo is. But where Oromo has come from and the envision against the ancient Abyssinian ethnic groups is not explained. During the time of Oromo evasion, the oromo envaders didn't envade peacefully. They destroyed many innocent children & their parents. They cut off the male genital part of non - oromos not to be productive in children; and they cut off the breast of moms not to feed their children. So, this cannot be hidden. I don't think the cunt woman(the narrator) from the video know nothing about Oromos; rather, she is attempting to cover the evil deeds of Oromos.
Another point that must not be forgotten is that the name "Galla" is not given by Amharas brothers & sisters. Rather, they have brought with them. When they came from Madagascar, they were Galla, at Kenya they are known as Galla; in Somalia, they are known as Galla. So, the name Galla is not given by the innocent Amharas.
Finally, since I was converted into Oromo from my ethnicity during my childhood, I've just left the name "Oromo" and mixed myself to my original ethnicity "Hadiya". Next; it is time to destroy Oromo from all over Ethiopia, who have killed our innocent Ethiopians.
Truly speaking, Oromos are Cowardice. One Amhara can drive 10,000 Oromos to the river, for fetching water. lol

Here in the West we have access to books that we don't have back home. Please do the research and let us unite. White supremacy is real. Divide and conquer is real system they use to keep us divided so we won't reclaim our Ancestral Heritage. Whose legacy is the Civilized Past?? Ours!! Whose Ancestors built the pyramids and taught the mysteries of life and death? Who taught the nations the secret power of word?? Our ancestors gave the world the first and last civilization 10,000 bc before Jesus or Mohammed and Buddha or Krishna or Tao was ever heard of!! We are the Ancient ones! The Oromo ppl live in a country called Ethiopia aka Abbyssinia, true that oromo nation is the largest but do u really think it's a good idea to separate a village from it's sorce, please be openminded, what has happned in the past was wrong! I have to admitt, but if you do this, what is the diffrence btween you and our forfathers? they made mistakes, just let it go already, we are one, The bible say's ''ethiopia ijuochuan wede igzihaber tizeregalech'' so that means god has already a plan for EThiopia, not oromoia. so please please try to think . This is the false proverb given for Oromos in the past by their enemies to decline their political standard! so, this saying is old and related with old political system practiced in the country for the last many years by those who feared Oromo peoples! So, you are miss-informed. Oromos are the great nation of Horn of Africa and they are Indigenous peoples in Ethiopia! To check this you can ask many researchers about Oromo nation. Some written materials about Oromo people which is written by non-Oromo Ethiopians are biased and written by their feeling, and have no reference! The land of Ethiopia and even the Oromo names in different parts of Ethiopia can tells you the indigenousness of Oromo. In addition, the resourceful area and the most beautiful parts of Ethiopia is in the hand of Oromo Peoples (in Oromia Region). So, Friend! return back to the point and see the correct history.

You need to liberate yourself from mental slavery. If your story was true, you would fight back long time ago. In any historical source we don't see Oromo in the map of Ethiopia before 16th century. You can tell the whole world your inferiority and oppression, no one can change anything. All you need to do is fight for freedom and equality to all people in Ethiopia. People from India and Nigeria for example tell you they are from India and Nigeria respectively. Which doesn't mean they don't have specific ethnic group with beautiful culture and language. The name of their country is their collective name. I am American/Ethiopian/Half Oromo and half Amhara. Being American doesn't change who I am. That's why you need to liberate your mind from mental slavery.

I like it when research comes together. The Oromo are actually Zulus. We are called Dolomo or Dlomo in Zululand. Zulus who speak Zululand Nguni - Gumede Ngunis do not pronounce the R's, we say l instead as opposed to Malawian Zulus who say r instead of l. Nelson Mandela is from this tribe. It is a tribe that came from the Thembuti or Thembu or eMbu or Mambo people of Africa. We are all over Africa, by the way. In Nigeria, you are called Elonmon (Nkosonmon = Kosomo = Kodlomo = Gadluma = Duruma) - my grandmother is from this clan. It is by far the largest clan of the Zulus. In Botswana and amongst the Mandebele (ethnic Zulus in South Africa) it is called Molomo = Mouth. The Thembu or Phuthi or Maphuthing or Naphuthinga are broken down into Hala (Amhara) and Ngala (Dlomo or Oromo). The Hala then become the Abishai or Hlabisa as we call it or Gabhisa of the Tlokwa or Dolokwa (we all speak different languages but are the same people) or maybe you would call it Olokwa or Olokha or Olonga or Olokula or Olokua or Olokanu, as it seems you skip the D altogether. These are people who come from our common ancestor called Mashobane or Sobala or Sobia/Sibiya. One of the Chiefs in Nelson Mandela's kingdom is called Mtikrakra or Mtingwa or Mtihaha.
We are called Amalinga or Amalai or Amalawi = Amarinya = Amhara. Those are the Hala. The Ngala and more senior house, is also called Nala or Mbuduma or Phuthuma or Jola or Swati or Sawati or Swazi or Sawahili or Sarhili or Ashanti. There are 6 Bantu countries with Bia in their name: GamBIA, ZamBIA, NamiBIA, LiBYA, Ithiopia or (we call it Topia, Ntombela and Thyopho) and ColoMBIA. Before you say LiBYA is Arabic, consider that we say we come from Mariba or Maliba or Migaba or Mageba people of Yemen or oYemeni (I live quite close to oYemeni in Zululand, actually) as we say it. This was a a medieval state that was destroyed by Ottoman invasion in the 1800s, I think, and I think that is what forced us to move South. Zulus always maintain that we are multiple groups associated by blood who came from Congo, before then Sudan, before then, Yemen and Middle East and before then all over the world including India, China and Asia. Till today, black people are acknowledged by Asians in their various countries as the indigenous people and they still live there, albeit in small numbers in the rain forests.
Dlomo = Dolo/Tolo/Tholo (Knee or Dew or Yesterday - also called Tshana or Jana or Zwane or Zakwe or Zagwe (or Zanji or Zanzi - what South Africa is called by blacks and a name we share we a certain island off Tanzania) as in Swahili) people of the Zulu + Mbo/Phuthi/Bodi/Buti (Duiker) people of Africa. The whole of Africa was called Ithiopia = The land of the Bia people.
The Zulu Kingdom of King Shaka came by because a SiBIYA (My Mom is one and their praise name is Nobiya/Tania/Tabia/Tobia (=Ithyopya) and many others - so this would qualify as Nubian) woman called Mthania or Mthiyane (Zululand till this day is called elikaMthania = the land of Mthania) married the main Zulu tribe called Jamela or Jama (Zulu is very similar to Arabic - some deep Zulu words are used in Arabic to mean the same thing) and produced Senzangakhona = Senza = Senta = Senti (black indians or Nthiya or Ndiya or Mthiyane) + Ngwa/Makua/Goa (The Sua people that Hala and Nala are part of as Tembu or Ambo = Asua or Asuati or Ashanti) + Khona = Kenya = Kwena = Gona (this tribe exists in EVERY African country and is the ruling tribe of Africa - every King is this tribe) who then married a Nande or Nandi or Barolong or Tolong or Tolo or Zolo or Kholo or Jollof/Wollof woman of the Langa tribes in Africa under the Zungu Gada/Gwaza/Gwaja/Gwada. The Biya family is big in Africa, the president of Cameroon is Paul BIYA from a Bantu tribe.
There are Barentu Oromos like Haile Selassi whose real name is Lij Tafari Makonnen = a person's name does not get much more Zulu than this. The Big house amongst the Zulus is called Magaye or Magalela or Malandela/Marondera - the ruling dynasty of Zulu is called Mpande or Phathe or Pate - they used to be based in Kenya. This house calls itself Nguni or Nkuni or Ngoni or Ngweni or in the Sotho language of Southern Africa - Nkoni or Nkone. This is what we call ourselves above Zulu or any other description. Tafari = Tabari = Tabai = Taba = Ndaba = great gift of a son or king = what a miracle has befallen us and it means mountain and is the name of one of our most common ancestors. He has many names: Dube, Ndabakansele etc. Lij = Lil = Lizi = Liyi - I don't know what it means but I can guess Tinyiko which means Gift or Lili could be flower or as Lilitha = Light or Lizwi means voice, the Zulu Mambo Kings in Southern Africa were called Rosvi or Lozwi or Lozi or Baloi or Valoi or Moloi as in Moro or Moors. Selassi is also a name of the Shabane or Sabane or Saba or Mhlaba - Nguni people of the Donga/Dao or Dawuduna or DawuDungwa or Davidic people.
My full name is a medieval-Hebrew (not current Hebrew, that was copied from Arabic and was invented in the onset of the 19th century) name and is Ntuthuko = first light (Ntu/Nga/Inka or Langa or Raya or Raja or Rala or Rawa) after the darkness of creation = when God said - let there be light (Thuko or Togu = darkness just before God created light = Nduku = Suku = Pai or Mbai or Mumbai), my name then meaning Rabbai or Rabai as the Mijikenda tribe in Kenya or Mlaba as we say it in South Africa, Siphesihle - Siphe is a Hebrew word meaning Gift, it means the same thing in Zulu and Sihle = God is righteous and gracious and birther of Kings = Sahle (what Sahel or Sahle actually means, it also means one who bears kings or ZalaNkosi or Israel or father of Kings) Zwane = Zuaun (Portuguese and Hebrew) = Johan = John = Duane = Juane = Jana = Tshana = Dyana = God is Gracious. All these variations of my name exist in deep Zulu.
