Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar® winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe® nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, the feather duster; six-time Tony Award® winner Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, the wardrobe; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.
Directed by Oscar® winner Bill Condon from a screenplay by TBD based on the 1991 animated film, the film is produced by Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman with eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken, who won two Academy Awards® (Best Original Score and Best Song) for the 1991 animated film, providing the score, which will include new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and Howard Ashman, as well as several new songs written by Menken and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice.

Well Flicks, it didn't make any sense how Cogsworth just immediately appeared on the dinner table when Lumiere was still singing "Be Our Guest"! However I would like to fix it with an idea I to pitch to Disney and would ask them to make "another" Live Action version of the movie with me as the director, only if I can get that kind of career now that I've graduated from high school.😃

Imagine watching the Cartoon for the first time. I saw the cartoon version in the movie theatres when I was 7 or 8. Im 35 now. But Beauty and the Beast was the first Animated Movie to ever implement CGI in a feature film during the Famous Ball Room dance. If you watch it today even the graphics hold well.

    • @anthonygordon9483
      @anthonygordon9483 Před 4 lety

Another fun fact. The Ball Room dance lasted about 5 mins in the cartoon version. It took 2 years for 100's of computers to render the 5 minute scene due to the lack of computer power back then. Toy Story 1, the first Full CGI feature animated film took even longer. 117 computers rendered everyday. each frame took almost hour to 30 hours to render. depending on how complex the scene was.

The biggest problem in the movie is how the time outside the castle seems to be a few days, and the time inside seems to be several months. All they needed was a line about time being different on the castle grounds. The servants seem to have been household objects for years, but their spouses from outside the castle are scarcely older?

I always wonder how people are capable of noticing all of these little errors! I cannot believe anyone was able to notice the Cheese Soufflé not being on the menu! It's insane how many mistakes can be made when filming.
I liked that the live version was able to fix most of the mistakes in the original film. It makes the story flow much nicer.
    Love the video!

One of the funnier errors I noticed (technically a logic error) was right before the Mob Song. When Maurice was getting thrown in the wagon and was about to be taken away to the asylum, many people were standing around with lit torches just watching. What did they need torches for if they were just watching some crazy man get imprisoned? Well, right after this, they sing the mob song which mentions getting torches to hunt the Beast, but many of them already have torches. Not planned very well if you ask me

I love the film too. I notice near the end Belle wears golden heels but when her and the prince walked hand and hand when the prince becomes human again, Belle now wears boots instead of heels.
Agatha's looks change(enchantress). In the beginning she's very young when the prince got cursed, old when she is Agatha and young once Agatha revokes the curse... maybe its got to do with the curse.

Belle also changes her shoes when going back to the castle to save beast, she's in the boots and not the yellow ballroom shoes, as you say it's highly implausible she'd stop back plus she's wore those shoes to the castle. Also, in the castle invasion scene she white dress/her underwear is hiked for the ride but if worn beneath the yellow dress, it wouldn't have been. She's on Phillipe so when would she have has time to hike it? I think the dress is also down by the transformation scenes, too.
Similarly, in the scene Belle and Beast discuss Arthur and Guinevere she's wearing the flat shoe we saw her in during the laundry scene but...where did they come from? She only left with what she was standing up in.

I did notice that during the Be Our Guest song Lumiere sings, Emma never really gets to eat any of it, so what did they do with all of the food they all worked so hard on?
Also, neither movie really says what happened to all of the original furniture/utensils/dishes/etc went.
In the animated movie, even the stove/oven is a person...so did the curse put their souls in objects and fade their bodies, of make them objects, and fade the original objects that they replaced? They show a room with a bunch of torn up furniture, how many of those were people?

The missing meal is Cheese Souffle.
Belle's hair: when Mrs. Potts comes in Belle's room to ask her to go to dinner there is a lot of hair on her right shoulder. Then it changes to view Mrs. Potts and then there nearly isn't any but only a strand of hair. Then it changes and there are equal amounts of hair on both shoulders.
When everyone freezes except Belle, there's still a woman moving her arms and when they unfreeze there's a man who jumps from his frozen position.

Flicks And The City, the authors of the movie did not aspire to study birds in general and owls in particular, before giving the Agathe's owl a voice. They think ''Every owl must hoot''. I know that not all the owls hoot: the Barn owls are screeching & screaming (!), the Australian Barking owls are barking like dogs (the thing what gave 'em their name), the rare Seychelles scops owls are ticking like clocks.

I thought the movie was great. Having learned French, it was fun finding and understanding some lines if you knew French. Such as when LeFou say "Je ne sais quoi" to Gaston, Gaston says, "I do not know what that means, "je ne sais quoi" can be translated to, "I do not know what." Also, during the credits, when the title is shown, they even used the French title, La Belle et la Bête, at the very top.
The dish that wasn't on the menu was Cheese Soufflé.

    I've found two things:
    1. When Belle left the castle, she wore the dancing shoes, but when she rode back, she wore the boots. When did she change the shoes ;)?
    2. In the mob scene, Belle's hair position on her shoulder changed many times. This might be a continuity mistake by using different takes.

2 things. 1 they have to sometimes redo scenes because the actors mess up so that's why some of the little flaws are there. 2 JUST ENJOY THE MOVIE THE WAY IT IS

There is one mistake that nobody really talked about, at the opening we hear Big Ben (idk if you Say it like that) Say "Master, it's Time" and the prince respond "Oui maître" that doesn't make sense

I loved the movie & the soundtrack!! Loved the animated version too, but it's wonderful having new songs in addition to new versions of the originals. Makes everything feel fresh again. I did notice the magical appearing sweater on Belle near the end, so I told myself she must've had it hidden under her skirts for when she wipped off the dress. ;) In answer to the question, Cheese Soufflé!

I loved the movie, I think it’s one of the best remakes from Disney. But it’s much inferior to the animated one. Its main problem is that it tries way too hard to fix “the problems” of the animated one. Even with all those “problems”,the animated one is still the best one.
It’s not like the plot holes ruin the whole experience of watching the movie

While these mistakes can't be denied now that they've been pointed they're so minor they are extremely difficult to even spot except for how Belle got a sweater on her way back to the castle. That's easily the most noticeable mistake but other than that, who could actually notice these mistakes unless they really study the movie that hard? I'm not saying you're wrong or criticizing your video, but just my take is most of these are really hard to pick up on.

I enjoyed the movie, especially Evermore, but the were several moments where I thought "really? /That/ was the choice you made (or take they went with)?...." regarding Emma Watson's performance. And I adore cheese soufflé (even though I have to double check how to spell it before typing/writing it out)

When you look carefully at the wife of cogsworth, at the beginning of the breakin on the castle, you can see she's holding a fork like trident or something I dunno, but later in the movie she already holds an axe instead of it. I dunno if this is an error or she intentionally changed weapon.

The answer to the question is Lumiere sings about cheese souflee and it doesn't appear in the menu. The animated classic as good but I enjoy the new live action so much better. Did you think at times in the movie that is looks like the stuff the is CG appears to be on top of the scene?

When Lumier is singing in the song "Be Our Guest" about the dishes on Belle's menu, the Cheese Souffle is mentioned but it isn't on her menu. I would love to win the book and would share it with my students! Thank you!
