These are incredible gp40 models and I personally have difficulty deciding which road name that I like the best, the Rio Grande and Western Pacific are both interesting because of their personal headlight features. The L&N and Milwaukee Road models are also impressive and I am satisfied to see that the four axle locomotive gp30 and gp40 models are being offered in the "Rivet Counter" class series as I really like the early original GP pre "dash 2" series four axle EMD locomotives.

For anyone modeling Rock Island here, a notable fact about the Rock Island is that they were mostly in charge of delivering new EMD locomotives from La Grange to the western railroads. So including the Western Pacific, and Rio Grande locomotives were delivered by the Rock Island. This also goes for later EMD Locomotives ordered by SP, Rio Grande, etc.

Nice looking models. Hopefully second run will include B&O/C&O/WM Chessie System versions, since they rostered over 400 GP40s/-2s (many of which never made it into Chessie paint before the transition to CSX, so you really need to do the pre-Chessie versions as well - or maybe just an undecorated option since I'd like to portray the one-off EMD 50th anniversary unit, GM50). They truly were the primary road power for Chessie in the 70s and early 80s. Also, the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac had a small fleet of GP40s, notably without dynamic brakes, which is notable because there are three significant grades on the line between Richmond and Alexandria, VA. Those units HAD to lead freight trains on their railroad because the line had an early and non-standard cab signal system that was not compatible with those of connecting lines. They also were set up with bi-directional controls, and had rear-facing horns for long-hood leading operation, so they did not have to be turned at the end of the line.

I have 2 DRGW GP40s, and 2 DRGW SD45s on preorder with y’all. If my wallet wasn’t on life support, I’d have preordered them all, but alas, there are not enough commas and digits in my bank account. 😂 Though if y’all would like to complete the trifecta and offer another run of DRGW tunnel motors, especially the 1994 era with the Christmas tree style lights, I’d gladly help yall suffocate my wallet some more. I would also like to respectfully request consideration for a run of RC MKT SD40-2’s and Florida East Coast’s new paint scheme on their ES44s. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! Your products are top notch.

I believe The Milwaukee Road had some GP40s known as “Fast 40s” because they were geared for high speed service on Sprint intermodal trains between Chicago and St. Paul.

Nice locomotive model, but Frieight cars such as the Trinity 6241 plastic pellet covered hopper and the early model is a must. Many manufacturers offer the same grain hopper and different plastic pellet types are needed. Atlas has the 5250, 5701 & 5800 ACF. Walthers had made the 6200 NSC and ST and Rapido have the early ribbed side Pullman Standard and Procor respectfully. FRIEIGHT CAR AMERICA and ARI/GUNDERSON/GREENBRIER are the the remaining ones.

The Models look Great. I saw the first run of Western Pacific 1776. 1776 had just been repainted into the new image scheme with the solid Orange nose with Green WP and the Orange extended on the side under the Cab windows with Green numbers before the derailment. It had gone back to it's original number 3540.
