    Good vdo Im a ex gp rider and this is by far the best way to learn you get more feedback from your bike and yourself in 1 weekend then doing months and months on the road... Also you met a great bunch of people amd can learn from setup suspension etc from your pit neighbours If you love your bike take it to the track if you do you will be addicted.

    Great tip I got on my 1st track day was start your 1st session at the back of the group in pit lane, that way u can always pass slower riders but won't get intimidated by faster riders coming past like if you'd started at the front

    One good tip I was given, easy into bends/corners, set yourself up properly to exit faster, if you come flying into corner 'not properly in control' invariably you'll have the wrong line to exit, basically take it easy at first and build on what you've learnt. ... and enjoy 👍

    Great video. I'm soon to get into track days. I have a couple of bikes but not suitable for the track. I'm going to get an RC390 and learn all the fundamentals before trying to go fast. Would be great to leap on a 600RR but it's not for me. I want to learn properly for once :-) Drivers don't jump into an F3 (or whatever) car but that's what we riders can (almost) do - some road bikes are pretty close to superbike class out of the box and trying to learn on one is probably very difficult. Thanks for the tips - I have the hurdle of language as I'm an ex-pat too - but it'll be all good.

    I'd say it's a bad idea to use hook straps over the yoke, or anywhere that compresses the suspensions for that matter. You have to either fully compress the suspensions (thus potentially damaging the seals if you hit a bump), or risk the straps getting loose if you hit a bump and the bike's suspension is compressed. In my experience, it's always better to use the wheel axle on the front and the swingarm on the rear. The bike will not move and the suspensions will be free to move in case of a bump.

  • @timdesmond1327
    @timdesmond1327 Před 4 lety +2

    what you should do when straping down the bike is strap it down from the stand side first. This is so that if you over tighten a strap on the non-stand side the bike does not fall over...
    You can tighten a strap down on the stand side stand down and not worry about the bike falling over when doing the other side.

      Better or worse?

    • @StarAZ
      @StarAZ Před 4 lety

      @@bennettsbikesocial Different. I don't know how far away tracks tend to be from cities in UK, but in Canada most people don't ride to tracks. I mean, the first time I did and I was the only one; everyone else towed. It was horrible for me both times since I couldn't bring enough water in my backpack. Most participants have dedicated track bikes because insurance is crazy on sport bikes here in Ontario, Canada. We also need to tape off the mirrors and lights and replace the coolant with water.
      Tracks here also have very little, if at all, covered areas so people bring their own canopies.
      I get the impression that track days in UK are more accessible to beginners because there's less initial financial commitment required.

    • @StarAZ
      @StarAZ Před 4 lety +1

      pravesh736 organizers recommend water with waterwetter for anti corrosion. Coolant (anti freeze) is made of glycol. It’s slippery and hard to clean when spilled. There’s a chance of spilling when you crash.
      It’s a reasonable concern but it makes it harder to ride your daily bike to a track and get a taste of track days

      Hi, thanks for the comment and question. A shorter circuit might offer benefits such as learning the radius of corners, braking points, which gear to be in, etc. but might also mean the track is busier than some of the longer ones. You have Mallory Park, Bedford Autodrome, Silverstone and Donington Park all in your doorstep so at least there are options. On a ninja 400 you might want to opt for Mallory first. Please let us know how you get on and if you have any other questions.

    From someone who is relatively new to track days my 2 bits of advise is 1. brakes. My second day out when I got some more confidence and speed into corners my brakes couldn't cope. So for the next day out I rebuild the calipers, racing brake fluid and sinster pads. Game charger. And 2. Forget about getting the knee down. I have seen some very silly and costly mistakes from new track day users trying to get the knee down. Like this video explains just work on your lines and body position for the first 3 or 4 days out then you can start to think about getting the knee down when the cornering speed comes.

    Noise limits on tracks is a stupid idea

      It isnt if you live near one. Day after day with the noise travelling or miles really gets on residents nerves. They usually have permission to run track days on condition the noise limits arent exceeded. I once raced at a circuit (Lydden in Kent) no engines were allowed to be run for 2 hours on Sunday, the circuit was near a church lol.

    Wow, didn't know that Christian Horner goes to trackdays.😂joke aside, very interesting and instructive video. I'm also looking forward to my first trackday ever in the near future.
    Thanks!🫡
