- Made for the shade, the SlimShady awning delivers excellent protection from searing sun and sudden showers. It mounts quickly and easily to your roof rack and only takes up six inches of bar space so it won’t crowd your kayaks, cargo boxes, or bikes. It’s super easy to use - just pull it out window-shade style and insert the poles when you get to camp. The light, strong nylon canopy has a waterproof PU coating to shed rain and delivers 42 square feet of shady coverage on summer days. Universal mounting hardware fits most roof racks.

Be extra careful with these in any wind. ours was fully staked down with sand augers at the beach and destroyed itself in seconds when some unexpected wind spooled up. Both horizontal poles snapped and the main body of the extrusion twisted like a pretzel. Luckily no one got hurt and somehow it didn't damage the vehicle. Not a problem unique the the Yakima awnings but just something to be aware of with any of them. it can go really wrong really fast
Glad you guys were cheering to Rainier!
Hey Yakima. Your product is so needed in the detailing industry. It would be nice to have something like this but could fit a vehicle under it. For mobile detailer's, we get calls to apartment complexes and homes with a garage but it's full and we can't wax the vehicle under shade. You can go to SEMA or the Mobile tech expo and show this product or make a custom one for detailer's. For now I'm definitely getting two, one for each side. Perfect for waxing a motorcycle. Maybe have attachment's for walls.
Please advise. Just use it yesterday. Due to heavy rain, the awning stored lots water. And it makes side pole support, bent. We hardly can push it back to its place. Here in Indonesia, heavy rain are unpredicted, any advise how to prevent it from bend? And how can i fix side pole support that has bent? (Not the vertical pole support).
Does this mount onto the Yakima Megawarrior roof basket?
what's the recommended width of the crossbars to mount the SkyRise 3 Tent and the awning?
The cross bar spread for the tents is 26 to 36", for the shade they are 24 to 70".
Let us know if you have any additional questions
It’s impossible to tuck it back in. Although i manage to. Unzip from after use 100 miles travel to home and taking it from the crossbars to the ground and finally zip it! Any tips in tucking it in? They should have made the case a little bit bigger.
A few tips;
Make sure nothing is bunched up in the tent preventing it from folding flat.
Check that the cover is on the right direction
Make sure the cover is seated in to channels on the side
I can't tell if this has sail tracks?
That's pretty much what the mounting tracks reminded me of .
The only reason I am hesitant to buy one of these is that it appears there's no lock available to minimize risk of theft
Mine is lockable. The keyed locks are built into the factory mounting base that clamps to the cross bar.
@@DrJohn493 Great to know! Thank you!
will this work with the rail bars? the website says no
The only thing I hate bout it is it needs 2 people to open and close it.

I managed to set mine up in a slight breeze singlehanded on the trial effort but it was about a 6 or 7 on the (1-10) cuss-o-meter. Also, mine didn't come with the stakes and tie-down ropes, which would have helped I think with a singlehanded setup. I've placed a request with customer service for the stakes and tie-down ropes. Think it will get easier with the tie-down kit and a bit more practice.
