  • Continuing to work my way through Shadow of the Erdtree, here's my no-hit run against Bayle. Incredible dragon. I would potentially even call it FromSoft's best ever, but I have to knock off some points for the camera dynamics, which, while manageable overall, are at times truly abominable.

    Do you have any tips on a consistent dodge timing for the flying fire beams?

    • @jermergerg
      @jermergerg  Před 16 dny

      Which ones? The phase transition or the sideways and then straight up and down double beam combo?

      @@jermergerg when he flies into the air and breaths down a horizontal flame and then a vertical flame before landing. It's at the end of your video 👍

      @@afterbyrner Definitely some trial and error, but for the first attack, you wanna watch the fire balls on the ground rather than the beam; dodge as the fire balls get near you. For the second attack, I let the beam get pretty close to me before double dodging outward, and it seemed to work.

      100% same here. Bayle has some issues mechanically, but on the whole I think they knocked it out of the park with this fight.

    This channel is false advertisement, no hitting bosses like Bayle is not in the realm of the average player with average skill 😅. I have enjoyed your content on ER and look forward to some more 👍. I'll give you a sub.

      Midir is much better simply due to being far more consistent. There's a lot of jank with Bayle unfortunately. Also he has a lot of dumb ass attacks that go on forever and don't give you a chance to retaliate which is an annoying in a game built around maintaining pressure on the enemy for staggers.

    • @jermergerg
      @jermergerg  Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@BBQcheese I see where you're coming from, but respectfully disagree. I like Bayle A LOT. The camera is definitely janky, but you can't even use lockon with Midir at all! And I found a good number of opportunities for counterattacking and getting staggers so idk I'm kinda into him :)

      Personally, I prefer fighting large bosses with the camera unlocked so that doesn't bother me with Midir at all. It does bother me with Bayle though because he moves around and attacks really fast at times making free aim less viable.
      His fire breath nearly ruined the fight for me personally, it tends to malfunction more often when you're at a distance. He can use it for an opening attack which is annoying. You can just eat an unavoidable hit by walking into the arena. I've had him multiple times phase change and fly inside the wall which breaks the lock on causing you to lose track of him and the fireballs along with changing your trajectory as you sprint. I once staggered him and went to take the repost and ate a lightning strike from the ground because apparent he had queued up the attack but I staggered him before the telegraph which just felt unbelievably cheap. You should be rewarded for staggering a boss not punished. The tracking on the fireballs is inconsistent as well. IDK after all that it put a damper on my enjoyment of the encounter. I'll obviously give it another shot, I've started a new playthrough tonight but my first experience was not enjoyable at all. For me it is something like
      Midir > Placi > Kalameet > Divine Dragon > Bayle
      Sorry, I mean no offense but I think some of this stuff should be fixed. There's an S tier boss in there if the jank were addressed. Who knows though maybe I'll change my perspective after spending more time with the fight.
