    I have been enjoying your trainz video's. A rail driver works well with Trainz. I have been working on a fictional route that's 286 miles for a year now. so your video's help pass the time.

      Glad to hear you enjoy the vids. I think route building's an activity that doesn't have to have an end and you can keep going for as long as you want. A years a long time but if you're having fun there's certainly no reason to stop so keep enjoying the game :-)

    I spend alot of time in trainz 22, But it really needs an engine overhaul, like TSW went through. Great video.

      The game had a new game engine a few years ago so will likely not get another for a good few years ahead.
      The real problem isn't the game engine. Its the game concept. Its a compromise. It tries to be everything for everybody which isn't possible. It tries to be a train driving simulator which it isn't that good at and it tries to be a creative game where you build your own dream maps. And its fine but not exceptional at that.
      I've said this many times... when Dovetale decided Train Simulator needed updating they built a completely new game. This meant they could continue to sell the old game and the people who loved that game would continue to get what they wanted. The new game could be anything they wanted it to be without expectation. This meant the new game didn't have to use any of the old assets or code and could be 100% new and so would use new methods of coding that are more optimised. And also without the map editor and user made assets the game will run faster. It also meant that from then on Dovetale had 2 games to sell instead of just one which is a great business decision.
      However when N3V decided that Trainz 12 needed updating they decided to create a new game engine for the existing game. They also decided to make it backwards compatible with previous releases and user assets made for previous releases. I think making it backwards compatible made it far less optimised than it could have been but the majority of their assets are made by users so without doing that the new game (TANE) would have had very little routes and scenery so I don't think they had much choice. As I say at the top, the whole game is a compromise. I don't see a point ever that it could run as smoothly as TWS simply because what it is.

    trainz always offers some unexpected routes for me to play, so it's nice to take a break from mainstream gaming. I don’t know why it received overly negative reviews, but it’s really a necessary game for me. Good Driving❤

      Cheers.
      I get to chat with lots of people about Trainz, some positive and some not so. The game unfairly gets matched with Train Sim World and it'll never match that game for performance. That game is written to solely be a Train driving sim and Trainz isn't. It can't be as optimised because of the game scope and its nature. For the people that understand that, the game is absolutely fine and they will enjoy it. It's not perfect as there are bugs, it also has it game weaknesses and a large number of user assets are very very old but no game is perfect. Now the other issue people have is with the company and some many people start to pick fault with the game because of the company and it decisions. 22 is 19 Platinum with some new routes. There was nothing new in the software. People saw this as a money grab and got annoyed. At the beginning I could see value in the new routes but as time went on I found out that some of the routes (I think 2) were previously free on the dls. I even found one of them and showcased it in a video. There are various other business decisions that have soured relations also. Once recently. They brought out 22 Platinum which as one new software feature and halved the price of the original 22 standard game. They didn't initially offer any discount for previous owners which annoyed people. To pay full price for a single new feature and some new routes? A month later they did offer a discount coupon to 22 standard owners (for a week) which I think started to mend that feeling. However within days of that offer ending they have now offered everyone that same discount in the sale. This once again will provoke negative comments as where is the loyalty towards their customers? I do think most of the negativity around the game is business related. The game itself is sound and the new features the devs are working on look good. I hope that ultimately the business side isn't what brings the title down.

    I think Trainz's in-game physics and shaders (graphics) are showing its age. Probably not going to be on my purchasing list.
    You're going to need to show us the surveyor mode if it still has one?

    • @bluewizard
      @bluewizard  Před 2 lety +1

      This is the playlist I did at Xmas when the beta came out. It contains a first look at the surveyor 2.0 tool.
      czcams.com/play/PLd_0BXn5xxdHBeY5OgPOpAe57ms6JMq8i.html
      Surveyor 2.0 is only available at present if you rent the game. If you purchase the game you only have access to the original surveyor tool. I would expect there will a premium version of the game out next year (Xmas) where it becomes available for all.
      I'm also editing a new vid that will be out in a few days showing the fully released version of Surveyor 2.0. It does work better than in the first vid but even so personally I don't think there is much of a difference in usage in either.
      And as for the graphics... in my view the editor tool is the reason the graphics can't be as optimised as Train Sim World. I'm fine with it as its the editor tool I use mostly but if you are just into driving there are better games to play.

    Hi! I've been playing TRS2022 since last week and I can't find and put on my own map a speed limit sign more than 160 kph. Look at this route. There are no 250 kph signs where the limit increases!
    Anyone knows where I can find or download this sign or how to set a limit for 250 kph?

    • @bluewizard
      @bluewizard  Před 11 měsíci

      I've found some 200km speed signs (I think they're speed signs but the deceptions not in English).
      Search "speed 200" in the track side accessories cat on the download station. You can also try the search term "LGV TVM 430"
      I think theses also some other variations.
      270, 320, 360 (km)
      There isn't a large selection. There used to be a speed sign you could remember your own number on but can't find it.

    Does pzb/lzb/ sifa work in trs?

    • @bluewizard
      @bluewizard  Před 2 lety +2

      No (not to the best of my knowledge anyway). I've not seen any routes using any type of safety system. Nor have I seen controls that could be used for it within a cab. Plus I've not seen any means to add it withing the season creation tools area. The closest I've seen is that the train can be programmed to stop if you speed.

    Do you think train sim world is better or Trainz in terms of realism?

    • @bluewizard
      @bluewizard  Před rokem +1

      I think if you're solely into driving then Train Sim World would be better. Trainz is a compromise as it has the editor. It affects all parts of the game including performance and gameplay. An example is the scoring. Trainz is pretty simple. Get to the marker and get a star. There are always 5 stars to get in total so if there are 4 stations you get 2 stars at one of the stations. At Xmas drove the American route. The session was about 2hrs in length. The game crashed about half way through. No way was I starting again so I opened the session, went to the editor, moved the train to where I was when the game crashed, put it back into game mode and carried on. At the end I still got 5 stars. That said if you think you might want to create your own routes and its pretty fun and you can only do this with Trainz so for me its if you only want to drive then TSW is the game but if you are creative then Trainz might be better. As for realism I'm not really the person to ask. I saw on YT the other day a real train driver diving TSW3. His name is Dad Rail. He would likely be able to answer that question. Another game you should look at is Diesel Railcar Simulator. Its a fun little game that will be getting a graphics update very soon. I have vids on the channel.

      It will do a licence check when you load the game. Not sure if that's every time.

    What N3V, ( the developers of the Game ) do with that very beautiful route, made of very long time fans (yes, this route was build by community members and I was few years part of the team) is very disappointing.
    I uploaded the trailer for that route, built for "Trainz A New Era" and mainly focused on being enjoyable in Multiplayer.
    The route has 5 different lines, and everything that this stupid game is showing is the monotone Highspeed Mainline.
    Overall, with this (sorry) boring Train only.
    No local trains, no shunting units, no fright trains...
    Nothing.
    There are ICE Bullet trains driving where it makes absolutely no sense.
    The Ai-driven trains are crawling with 65kph because the devs let start them in the middle of the tunnel.
    Some Speedlimits are misplaced.
    All Trackpostsigns (every 200m) are showing Debug 0,0
    The tilted tracks are not like we build years qgo, or the tilting in Trainz'22 are horrible crap.
    How lazy the devs are to deliver 4 boring scenarios that are almost identical.
    No other lines...
    Krachtingen Harbor.
    The big Loco-Depot, the idyllic branch line, the large freight station, and the very detailed industrial areas with interactive freight car loading/unloading functions are completely ignored.
    Blame N3V for this crap.
    Please look at what this route should be:

      They did the same thing with the British route included with 22. Its a very tiny part of a much larger and far more detailed route made by a community member.
      I've commented on this elsewhere. 22 seems to only be a money generator for the company. The software is cleary the Platinum version of 19. Tane had the new game engine. 19 had updated shaders but 22 had nothing new when purchasing. The new surveyor tool that is only available if you rent 22 was developped on 19. I think locking it just to the new game doesn't really make it a 22 feature.
      And so the only selling point for 22 are the routes and 2 of them aren't really new exclusive routes either. I'm wondering about the other 2 now.
      The game itself is receiving updates and is gradually getting incremental improvements but I'm not a fan of their business plan. And I do think it is a business decision to cut corners bringing comunity routes out as part of the game. Its certainly a business decision to bring what it is nothing more than an accumative update of 19 out as a full new game version. And the subscriptions are a horrible business decision. I detest their game subscription plan. I really don't like that they give updates to the game as soon as their created to subscribers but make game owners wait months. Its just wrong.
      I still like the game but I do find it very hard to recommend and have done for a long time. 22 is a better game that Tane. And in another year it will likely be a better game than 19. But thats only because it will get more accumative updates where 19 won't.
      Lets end on a possitive. The game is still the best creative train game out there closely followed by Transport Fever 2 and then EEP & Train Simulator. Its a terrible sim in my opinion but as a creative game its still the best. And it has some very tallented people who make routes for it. Hats off to each and every one.
