      Viltrumites, unlike other similar types of character species, are incredibly difficult to kill, in that they only really go down for good if you manage to cause sufficient destruction to their bodies or destroy/damage their hearts enough to make them unable to heal properly. So basically beating them to a pulp or disemboweling them is more of a minor inconvenience than a death sentence.

    Was nice seeing Mark actually winning a fight against a powerful opponent for a change. Sets him up well to likely put up a far greater fight against Conquest in the future.
    I'm guessing chances are episode 6 and 7 might cover the angstrom levy stuff and then 8 will be his big fight with conquest

      @@Oofteam1based on the timeline of the comics, levy and the invincible war should be next, the aftermath of that leads immediately into conquest showing up.
      If we don't get either of those major events in some capacity this season, then we will probably see Omni-man and Allens prison escape in episode 8.
      But with 4 episodes left it's highly likely we will get the levy stuff over the next few episodes and have conquest show up right before the credits roll.

    It's so good to see Invincible give someone a beating. Basically this is the difference between a street fight vs a martial arts match. Mark has been fighting like in a match, trying to wear his enemies down, and beat them up with just bruises or incapacitate them. Now Mark fought like in a street fight, going for vitals and not afraid to do actual damage. Literally awakened his killer instinct when he saw all the thraxxans they killed. He just stopped when he was about to land the finishing blow. But he was in the right mindset for the other half of the fight. It's amazing how much stronger he has gotten.

    “I’ll kill you, for what you did to these people.”
    “Then do it.”
    They rely purely on strength of force to back up their words and it shows. So far they have lived up to their reputation and I’m excited to see them again.

  • @FC_mania
    @FC_mania Před 6 měsíci +65

    In the comics, this moment was gorey eye candy against Mark, showing how behind he is in terms of strength.
    Here it’s setting the foundation for the battles to come. If he doesn’t use his adrenaline to the fullest, doesn’t go for the kill, doesn’t fight like a viltrumite, there will be consequences.

    • @chuckingreaper8654
      @chuckingreaper8654 Před 6 měsíci +1

      I prefer the comic as there is little to no way a fledgling Viltrumite stands a chance against a thousand(s) year old, experienced Viltrumite. Marks best advantage in the comic was his desperation and adrenaline as he had to be creative to close the massive gap between him and his enemies.

    • @FC_mania
      @FC_mania Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@chuckingreaper8654in the comics it wasn’t until Conquest where it was emphasized that a Viltrumite hybrid actually gets stronger the angrier they get.
      In the show, there are multiple points before this episode where Mark got angry enough to instantly overcome the gap in strength between him and his enemies. (Flaxan captain, machinehead’s gang, even against Omni man for a brief moment.)
      So it feels genuinely earned here. Even if it didn’t, it’s not like mark actually won this battle. Thula was practically getting a warmup in.

    I kinda like how mark was doing better in a fight. Unlike what other people have said, he does have some skill for just getting into the superhero thing, he fought his dad, albeit he losses horribly he did get a few hits on his dad, he gets jumped almost every episode taking beatings that he probably shouldn’t, but looking at the fight with thula he didn’t do that much damage, he beat her but he didn’t kill her, and that’s what I think people are forgetting.
    He was extremely tired after and thula kept getting back up. If he didn’t hold back I’m pretty sure he’d have a chance. He also if the descendant of argall, son of Omni man so this strength makes a little sense.
    But I read some of the comics and I actually prefer some of the changes in the show. Makes it more exciting and shows more punishment and jaw dropping scenes

    The moment I heard Thraxan in episode 3 of season 2, I knew we were in for some shit. Well, knowing the plot isn’t exactly the same as seeing it unfold in real time. This has to be one of the first times in this entire show, where the guts and gore feel like a reward for the audience, rather than the result of an innocents in tragedy. It’s clear that the animation team has upped the quality of animation considerably, and it all comes down to some cleaver tricks with variable frame rates and excellent overlapping action. It’s a shame we’ve gotta wait for episode 5, but if the first half of season 2 is anything to go by, it will be well worth the wait.

Nolan was constantly having to switch gears to counter the different things the Guardians threw at him. They had ranged attacks, they had a guy capable of wrapping up and immobilizing him, they had Red Rush who ruined Nolan's chance for a surprise attack and stole the momentum of his initial onslaught. If Green Ghost hadn't been so inexperienced and choked at the worst moment, they could've won.

    The reason I think Mark had his entire tooth ripped out and not broken or chipped is probably because Viltrumite bones and hard organic material are insurmountably durable. Their teeth, cartilage, and bones are probably *the* strongest biological material in the universe.
    If you notice, whenever two full grown Viltrumites are mortally wounding one another, they (usually) go for their internals or connective muscle and tissue instead of directly attacking the bones. Thula’s jaw in her fight with Nolan was smashed through her head, not directly crushed. Their bones are probably too strong to attempt to break in the midst of battle, and when Nolan was pummeling Mark, he most likely destroyed the gums and such connecting the teeth to his skull, way before even phasing the enamel and such of the tooth itself.
    [SPOILERS] We can see this being the case in Mark’s first fight against Conquest, where when Mark is headbutting Conquest’s skull in, it takes numerous, full force headbutts to crack his skull open, only “killing” him due to the damage to his brain from a caved in skull.

    Hold up. Allan was able to beat Mark in a fight, back in Season 1. Seemed to show that at that point in time Allan wa smore powerful than Mark Thula alone could beat up Allan to death (as we kind of saw in the last episode). Yet here Mark was able to hold his own against Thula and actually hurt her? This kind of doesn't make sense.
    Although a few months did pass from when Mark and Allan fought, so he must have gotten a little bit stronger. Number 2, Mark perhaps had an adrenaline rush here, when he saw the death of innocent Thraxans, which motivated him to fight back and prevent further death of innocence.

      @adambrown6669 Před 6 měsíci +7

      Technically Allen didn't beat him, Allens hits barely did much to him, hell when he was pinned and being punched over and over he never even drew blood, their fight ended because Invincible got Allen to talk and realize that he was on the wrong planet.
      If he fought Allen to the death he'd likely have killed him, at least that early days version of Allen anyway.
      The show has done a really good job of showing how a kid with insane power but a very classic hero moral code can seem far weaker than he is, Mark has only ever really hit his dad with his true strength, and Thula with his focused strength and skill.
      Every other battle he's been in he's been holding back or being sloppy, otherwise the flaxan leader would have been mush on the street, tether tyrant and kilcannon would be dead and immortal in the alternate reality would have died by mark's hand instead of his father.

    This was such an ass pull fight on Marks end🙄 Mark shouldn’t have been able to win against Thula because in the comics she’s the second strongest female Viltrumite and in the top 7 which Mark is nowhere near at in this point of the story plus how can someone with nowhere near the amount of experience beat someone with hundreds of years of experience? Also the conversation about how Mark needs to stop holding back is better in the comics he ain’t holding back in the comics he’s just outclassed and his dad tells him to fight like a Viltrumite which means don’t stop to think about what his next move was just fight or else he’ll die not both of them just him. That would’ve been a just as good character development but they had to do it like this and disrespect another character like Thula. Look everything before this episode was good it was just the drastic change in continuity in this episode and how it’s gonna change future fights like his fight with the next Viltrumite that will come to Earth and that fight he gets his ass beat but he gets the upper hand and wins cause I bet you either they’ll change that fight drastically like this one or ignore the ass pull power boost and the lesson in this fight was nothing.

      Yes and no. He’s still fighting his dad at the end of the day so he doesn’t actually want to harm him but he wasn’t even strong enough to get Nolan’s grip off him when innocents were in the way. 100% Mark still wouldn’t stand a chance against Nolan in season 1 though.
