Chinese Scholar’s Garden, Snug Harbor, Staten Island, New York

There is a remarkably authentic and atmospheric traditional Chinese water garden in Snug Harbor - an old sailor’s rest home complex and park on Staten Island in New York. The Chinese Scholar’s Garden is an extremely accurate recreation of the types of gardens found in China. Being there transported me to China, and three times I caught myself actually thinking I was in China - for a split second.
