- These weird and wonderful characters, created by Carolyn Corben (as part of The New Renaissance design company) represented different weather conditions of the day as part of ITV's networked forecasts when they were sponsored by Powergen. Their names, in order of appearance are: Aurora; Gilda (plus overcast, in rain and then with...) I miss these idents, theg put some serious worm into these. We need these back, i had the snowball like one in my head for years.
I remember seeing these intros when I was a very young child in the early 2000s. I still adore the artistic effort into the costumes today. :)

oh my goodness! i’m getting ready for work and the winter one has just come into my head so i had to see if it was on here to take me back to being a child. always fascinated with these little adverts, beautiful woman and some were scary. the snow one reminded me of my mum haha. thank you to whoever uploaded this. xx
These terrified me as a 7 year old and still terrify me to this day. Actual nightmare fuel.

So much creativity and thought. The winter ones bring back so many memories.... especially the Fog Lady with beams for eyes...... all that creative effort for seconds of viewing enjoyment..... you didn’t really need to watch the weather report. You knew it by the intro... ❤
Some of them give me a Tim Burton vibe especially Brelina, Mirka and Nimbella but also Cyan does as well. Norwin kind of looks like a mix of David from The Lost Boys and Jareth.
I thought the same thing. Speaking of film vibes I also kind of got a Harry Potter vibe with the 3rd and 4th ones because the music brought back memories

Literally searched the whole of CZcams to find these because there was two that absolute terrified me and still does now and I just had to find it out for counselling reasons!! Absolute madness 😭

@@mxx1236 wow I wrote this 3 years ago lol! At the time I was having cognitive behavioural therapy for childhood trauma and the general consensus was that I couldn't remember much of my childhood but this I certainly could and I just wanted to see if it still triggered or scared me to this day

Loved these ads! So satisfying to find them! Love the shivering fluffy blue balls. Reminds me of staying up late working on my college artwork. I want to be a teenager again in the 90's!!!
Shivra was the blue, fluffy, shivering one. You must be older than me if you were a teenager in the 90's I was a child in the 90's.

If I had to give each Weathergen a month of the year (given there's 12 of them, appropriately enough!), it'd be thus:
January: Crystella (Snow/Sleet)
February: Shivra (Cold, but generally dry)
March: Nimbella (Overcast and Drizzle)
April: Brellina (Rain/ Showers)
May: Helios (Morning Mist, but also Sunny)
June: Gilda (Fair/Sunny)
July: Aurora (Hot Summer Sun)
August: Gilda/ Cyan (Sunny, but gradually turning cooler)
September: Florta (Light Breezes/Autumnal conditions)
October: Mirka (Fog)
November: Norwin (Strong/Stormy Winds)
December: Frice (Frost/Ice).
Same with me. That’s the order I would’ve put them in too

Due to the way the rain hangs off Nimbella, I always thought she represented hailstones
I really remember these the fog one and wind one used to scare me, the gentle breeze one is really pretty and the chilly snow ball one is cute
Nostalgia at its finest, my parents and I had names for all of these (like Poorly Boy, Rainy Lady, Windy Man) and so on. Seen a few new ones too!

Wow got goosebumps watching these. When I was around 8 the one at 2:50 used to creep me out, at the time I didn't know it was supposed to mimic the sun! It looked alien.

Who can I write to to get this beautiful itv weather advert back remembers me of my teenage years and I’m now 35 I’ll probably have to write to ITV 1 to get the old ITV powergen adverts back from the late 90s and 2000s just want this weather adverts back so badly I’m a 1st June 85 baby and grew up with these weather adverts as a teenager great memories

The agency that did these idents were Lambie-Nairn that are now called superunion and the new renaissance but the new renaissance is now defunct but carolyn corben was one of the designers for these ads.

Does anybody know who composed the music to these?. That motif sting is so strong and is so memorable when you compare today's logos for just about anything these days. Where the bloody hell is the strong themes and motifs to represent logos today?
These Idents are way better compared to what we have today.
+steven mathur I think my favourite identities have to be The BBC one balloon idents because again the music was just always great to listen to and had a strong theme and background that was beautiful and atmospheric. But any time I watch these intros it's almost like XTC hahhah

I used to beg my parents to change the channel when Mirka came on. My mum was so baffled.
Would have loved to see a rainbow Weathergen
Rainbows aren't really weather as such but rather an effect of when the sun light hits rain at a certain angle which gives off 7 colours - Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet :)

@@Hankssmovieandtvch5379 You're sort of right, the idents ran from 1996-2001 (albeit with slight changes to the idents made in 1998 and again in 2001), but these versions you see in this clip are from 1996-1998 - note the logo for ITV National Weather in each one, which is what the person you're replying to is trying to say.
