- We decided last-minute to attend the NARBC in Schaumburg, Illinois! This is a huge reptile expo, and we were so excited to be able to go! But... our new store is open to the public the day of the show... Will everything be ok while we're gone? I wonder what shenanigans our employees will be up to in our absence?

That's such a cool career! I love learning about genetics, its just so interesting
I find all the genetics talk very interesting, it’s some thing that has fascinated me from a very young age :) I’m currently working on an isopod breeding project with A. vulgare color lines! I am breeding magic potion types with more pinkish colors and lighter yellow with others that have no spots and with that getting babies that are all pink with white patches, they are so cool ❤️
As someone who's trying to do the same, but is MIFFED there's no isopod breeders in my country (at least none that breed morphs), I highly salute you! Magic potions are my favorite morphs, and if you're making "love potions" (is there even a name for the morph you got?), you bet I am now eager to see them get more popular!
@@krislaracoelho8643 :) yes I’m hoping they catch on with buyers where I live, I am also the only breeder in my area, so I’m going to be working on some other projects as well with specific localities and such (and that is a good name for them btw)

I wish you luck! They all sound really, really pretty. I’m giving a breeding project with powder blues + Dalmatians a shot to try to get blue Dalmatians with zero understandingly genetics. Probably gonna fail but it might be fun!

I started to cry for the auction part, just to see a piece if art someone out so much live and care into being priced up so high is fast by buyers was just insane and incredibly sweet
I was absolutely beside myself that the surfboard went for that much! I worked on it all day during the show on Saturday and couldn't believe that it brought so much to USARK. Definitely my proudest moment! Thank you!

Seeing all those baby Mexican black kingsnakes made my heart sing! Especially since Eomer was pretty tiny when I got him! He is two years old now! I hope he is doing great there, and being his sassy little self.

I saw another person mentioning this, but can’t find the post anymore after refreshing the screen-there seems to be another CZcams channel named Snake TV who’s using Emily and Ed’s logo. I’m not sure what can be done, but I hope this gets brought to their attention!

they are aware of the issue and I believe have addressed it! I believe this other channel is overseas, so there's not really anything that can be done.

4.5 hrs of sleep is not nearly enough, so many cute animals!
I've worked an 8hr shift on less and it sucks.
@@eeveegirl1334 I was an acute dialysis nurse and on call a lot so I would often work a 12+ hour day get 2-4 hours of sleep then get called in and back at it for another 12+ day. Exhausting but so rewarding.

I was at that show, along with my cousin, his wife and their two kids. I'm bummed we didn't cross paths with you, but maybe in October! My cousin's youngest is a little girl about 2-3 and she wanted to take EVERY SNAKE HOME. Definitely related to me, no doubt! :)

The thing with breeding a chimera is that you wont know which of the two sets of genetics will come out as the dominant as it could be totally different than the dominant visual traits. But that BP was beautiful
Exactly! Been combing through the comments to see if anyone had pointed this out. Guy said he tested with both genes, but I'm curious to see which set will be passed on since Chimeras can only pass on a single set. Plus, he said the mother was only Enchi, which makes me curious as to what the father was. Both sets of genes that Chimeras have can only be possibilities of what the parents can produce. So if you have a pair of Albino normal pattern morph hognoses that have been steadily paired their whole life, you won't ever have an Albino normal/Toffeeconda Chimera. Both sets of genes have to be possible.
As a side note, I had no idea that Chimerism in snakes was a thing. My experience has been with horses/mammals. It makes sense, since I've seen SD's videos with the twins they had hatch last year, but it hadn't really connected. 🤣

Coming from a beekeeper, who has heard tails of unintended tragedy. Be careful (or just dont) bringing insects into hotel rooms when traveling. They don't skimp on the insecticide.

So glad you guys have such great employees. You should make up names for the different rolls in the people who work for you. For example you could call your store staff "herpers". But I think Ed would be hilarious in making up the various names. It could be a badge or a shape of their name tag. But it would give your staff an incentive to spend time educating themselves as well as maybe bonuses for meeting the next level. Just a thought but it could be fun.

Shocked how few people are wearing masks o.o in Washington, our mask mandate was lifted but everyone in the store always has a mask on. Hope everyone at the show had fun and is healthy!

I was so suprised and a bit scared seeing such few masks... in Germany you still have to wear a FFP2 mask as soon as you enter a closed space (building, bus...)
@@fonsineknshr the situation in the US is very complicated and it’d create discourse in the comments no matter what I say- plus it wouldn’t fit in a youtube comment at all. But as a TLDR, Vaccinations for Adults have been available since February (at *least*) and where I live a lot of people think COVID may just be like another flu. That said, a good portion of people still wear masks while also being vaccinated, they just may be tougher to find. I live in a big city where a majority of people are vaccinated, and they’ve begun to allow it for kids under 15. sorry for making this long, it’s a complicated scenario and again this isn’t the place

Tessera also refers to the change in side pattern in corn snakes, which is not seen in the 'Stripe' morph. One of my corns is a wild-type tessera and it's my absolute favorite pattern morph.
The hognose at 9:42 is gorgeous!!! I wonder what morph? It almost reminds me of a lavender.
went there and had a blast! Tons and Tons of snakes, Picked up a Bearded Dragon Baby there, and almost got a black night Leopard gecko morph for 600, but sadly used my card for a 20 dollar shirt and bank decided to put a block on my account cause driving 2 hours away from town was strange behavior, but either way came home with new pal and got to geek out about reptiles

I would literally give anything for that amel palmeto! Its my dream snake. I dont even mind his eyes. Its just added caricature! I already have an enclosure ready for one but unfortunately I lost my teaching job due to covid so I haven't been able to get one. This is also why I had to cancel both my patreon and our planned trip for the zoo opening. Sadness everdeen much!!

@@dawnedepp422 minnesota is about at 70% vaccination rate and covid cases have plummeted, so at this point anyone with the shots is safe and its largely a case of "if you haven't been vaccinated, you're no longer being protected with masks, spacing or cleaning, so get on it or risk the consequences", especially since insurance is probably going to stop covering covid treatment soon if you could have gotten the shot but didn't
