I drove an APC Warrior in the British Army. Once i was (battened down) fully enclosed driving at night the night sights failed, drove right into a tree 🤣🤣... Also one driver had his sights shot out in Iraq and had to drive with commands from the the vehicle commander. This is thankfully trained early on.. to be able to drive without seeing anything thru the drivers sights.

I did my conscription driving a 2S1 SPG and the day before our night driving exercise I had desk duty during the night... at the point when we started driving I had been awoke some 20hrs with 4 hours of sleep or something like that, then you slap on a soviet night sight from the 70s... that fish eye lens was horrible and I think that experience will never leave me lol

Doing terrain mapping 3D (not on this shown.Version) solves for the terrain changes. It’s a matter of mapping layers, which layers are displayed. A version can also plug in ground penetrating radar to detect buried metal objects or more dense objects along with shaper/pattern Recog to predict what it is ie ied.
This is a plus and play type system so whatever device is compatible, it can read and display the layer. IR, microwaves, radiation, and just about anything in the spectrum can be displayed as a layer. Coupled with the weapons targeting system, this system can clear path in auto mode.

This looks much simpler than the F-35 helmet, but it was interesting to hear how the land imperfections actually cause a bigger challenge with ground vehicle use; I didn't think about that. I am also curious how much this system costs. It's probably nowhere near as expensive as the F-35 helmet, especially since it doesn't look like it needs to be custom made for each driver.

I would imagine that the cameras could be integrated into the body of an armored vehicle at time of manufacturing which would give them better protection as well as the ability to mount more cameras on the vehicle. I am exotropic and do not have binocular vision or depth perception and so I do not get nausea related to vision issues. On the other hand I have to manually compensate for depth perception which sometimes in very difficult especially at night. I can see in the future cameras being mounted on soldier's helmets as well as from other sources that could project an image on their helmet visor such as pin pointing out where the enemy is in order to prevent friendly fire.

Call me crazy, but I bet eventually we will develop the technology to detect and destroy very small incoming projectiles, such as small arms fire. I'm thinking of something similar to existing missile defense systems, only on a much, much smaller scale. If you could incorporate that into a vehicle equipped with this technology you would then be able to specifically protect the cameras thus eliminating the need for windows entirely!
This technology is really cool and I can't wait to see all the applications it will be used for in the future!
