The Sirui 35mm anamorphic is here! I'm loving what Sirui is doing with these lenses and I'm curious to see what's next for them. As I did with the 50mm, there are upgrades for the 35 and I'll cover those in upcoming videos.

When the right project comes along I'll shoot with these two on the FS5, and crop a spherical lens in post if I need anything closer than 85cm. Can't wait to use them properly on a paid production. Build quality on the 50mm is great. A 25mm would indeed be fantastic but we will probably have to wait a while. I'd actually like an 80mm the bokeh would be insane. These two for now will definitely do the job though!

Right now I’m really enjoying my SLR Magic 1.33 50 on my Veydra Mini Prime 25mm. I can really control how much anamorphic aberrations I want and the look wide open at 1.5 - 2.5m is very C-Series. @@liquidmocofilmsllc4915 I love the Vazen 28mm. It is nicer looking on the GH5 rather than the Pocket 4k because the GH5's true 4:3 sensor just works better with it in the 6k Anamorphic mode. There is a little chromatic abberation on my 28mm but not too bad. I love the stretched bokeh and wide view. It is also sharper on the GH5 than the Pocket 4k. I also have a Zcam E2c but it doesn't have a true 4:3 mode. The E2 and E2-M4 does. Tito's review of the Vazen 28mm is spot on. Watch it if you haven't. What I like most about the 28mm, besides the look, is the size and compactness of it. I think Tito described it as a "trustworthy" feel. I completely agree with that statement.

Yeah, I get EF-mount surely, it's the old DSLR-type. But it is kinda bummer having the 50mm f/1.8 1.33x available in X-mount, but not this 35mm.
Or that the 50mm doesn't have this mount conversion kit available. I'm hoping MFT has a bright future still, but I'm a little wary I might end up changing systems.
Atleast Panasonic for the times exploits the benefits of shooting anamorphics the most, so I'm hoping the GH6 will come out swinging and all my MFT lens investments are put to waste just yet...

    #Sirui-reduced-lens-image-circle
I have learnt a lot from your video sessions covering all the aspects of anamorphic lenses, thank you! And because of your intro on the Sirui 35mm, I recently acquired one copy from B&H, but I was disappointed to find one major issue: Believe it or not, it seems that the image circle size of the 35mm Sirui lens has now drastically REDUCED. The negative impact? A user can no longer use 1.2x or 1.3x Sony Clear Image Zoom to get the wider angle of view on A7 full frame camera (as shown in your Flamingo test in this video). I just bought one copy from B&H hoping to 'copy' what you have done with the Flaming test: using it on my Sony A7r. What I found was that I had to use 1.8x Clear Image Zoom to get rid of the dark corners, so that is the same as putting it in the APSC mode + extra 1.2x/1.3x digital zoom (while using APSC mode). If one were to put on the Sirui (using the full frame mode), they could see an almost perfect circle on the view screen, which, to me, is very much a joke! The only positive side I could think of is that it still functions as a true anamorphic lens (but it now becomes 35mm*1.5*1.2=63mm vertical lenght ) but with no extra benefits of using it on an FF camera. So in conclusion, the 35mm Sirui lens given out to CZcams testers to evaluate 2 years ago changed their specs, and what are now available could be some very different (or under-specced) lenses as they are very restricted to APSC+1.2x image zoom and m4/3 frame areas, and I believe it could be a deal-breaker for many potential buyers.
