Five/Aidan and Klaus/Robert are definitely what's kept me coming back to the show. I really like some of the other members of the cast, but their characters haven't really grabbed my attention.

Aidan Gallagher is phenomenal, can't believe with such a big cast, a teenager is the best actor among them (not that the others are bad tho)
His character is definitely the best! Aidan is obviously great, but I don't think I'd call him BETTER than the rest of the cast. I think Five just gets wittier writing than the others. Plus, he's probably had the most detailed character development as Five really drives a lot of the plot in every season. The others have had development, sure, but it's been kinda linear for nearly everyone else.

Five’s actions for his siblings throughout the show define unconditional love.
He is the main reason I watch the show. Such an incredible actor. I would belive him every word. He is like the heart of the show. I would love to see as much of him as possible in season 4.

@@sorinaazizi8437 That's very likely. Either he'll sacrifice himself for them, or try to but they’ll find a way to save him in time. It'd be nice if they went all out to save him for a change, since he's always going all out to save them. He does say that he wants to buy a 1970s Corvette Stingray, so that - combined with the fact that he's my favorite character on the show and deserves peace and happiness after all he's been through - makes me hope it'll be the latter. Let's all manifest Five surviving s4!!!

As for ellen character, nothing was good going in her life from the start.
She's the powerful one among Hargreaves but the most unstable one also. There was always chaos in her. She is only one with the least character development in the whole show.

Is no one going to talk about how Five saved Ben’s life? Like when the kugelblitz exploded in the house killing Fei & the cube,Ben was going to die because the Kugelblitz was about to kill him but when Five & Viktor got out of the room and got ready to leave. But before Five could leave he quickly teleported grabbed Ben quickly saving his life.
Like the old Ben from the original timeline who was nice,is now dead. But in this alternate timeline even though this Ben is a jerk,Five didn’t want Ben to die this time like the old Ben,not on his watch.
I know Five doesn’t show it but he loves & cares for his family because those sacrifices he makes is always for his family even if it means killing people. Five could be unpleasant sometimes but he’s always a good sibling because if it weren’t for him saving them during S1 they would of been dead (I hated the fact some of the siblings blamed him when he saved their life even it would mean getting stuck in the past).
I especially love the sibling friendship of Five & Viktor because Five is more softer to him and check & talked to him after Viktor had a fight with Allison because he wanted to help Viktor even though Five pretty much kinda threatened him of killing him himself if Viktor lied to them again (I think Five was just saying that because all that he’s done for his family and trying to include Viktor in everything is a good caring brother)

in season two the first thing he asks hazel is what the hell just happened and then right after "what about my family", when hes tracking them all down he apologises to them individually and when theyre all together the first thing he does is apologise again... hes the one holding allisons wound in season one, wants to meet claire.. and hes always had an underlying respect for viktor that isnt really felt from the rest of the siblings in season 1 at least imo.

Yeah, he is definitely one of the most complex characters in the show, and I love the contrast between his caring loving side and cold hardened behavior. I also think he felt strongly about og Ben, considering that when he got in the future and saw apocalypse he first called Ben and Vanya by names, and then the rest of the siblings. It must have contributed to him caring even for alternative Ben, even though he is a "massive dickhead". I also like how his love towards the family doesn't blind him, and he always stays rational and the one doing damage control. A lot of fans were angry with him threatening Victor, but I think his actions were totally justified considering the information he had on his hands at that moment. I mean, from his point of view, Victor already ended the world twice basically just from feeling stressed and emotional. Alisson, who is obviously also stressed right now, never had such a violent history - from Five's pov she doesn't have violent history at all, since he doesn't know about her rumouring that racist barista to burn himself and no one in the family knows how bad her mental health is actually affected. Her killing Harlan is the first slip that they know about, and as far as they know, she does have some justifiable "rational" reasons to do it, as cold as it may sound. Her killing him was obviously emotion driven act, but they could have interpreted it as her doing condition that Sparrows gave them to work together. So, I can totally see how he considered Victor as a bigger potential threat and made "damage-control", but in Five's style.
@@tameriz1280 absolutely. and at base value yeah he threatened viktor but its also like. hes very logically driven and always focused on the big picture. he cuts himself off from tangents once he realizes hes going on them, and always relays the information that (he deems) is the most important first. hes trying to stop the world from ending and though i think he did mention that he loved the world (while drunk, of course) his main motivation is to save the world so his family stays alive. i think he sees himself as expendable. and if it comes down to it that stopping the end of the world means having to kill one of his siblings to save everything else, hed do even that. and he doesnt say it out of malice, perhaps warning. i think viktor could possibly even agree with him because like. he is fundamentally a kind person who has emotions like everyone else but theyve been dulled for years and with it comes this massive usually destructive power he cant control as well yet. viktor doesnt want to cause the apocalypse, kill his siblings, etc etc. so i feel like that conversation between the two of them, though really fucking difficult on both sides obvs, was like. a mutual understanding? i havent gotten to my rewatch of season 3 yet, but five and viktor were always close as kids an stuff
and youre right too, he doesnt know about allison. hes working with the knowledge and memories he has of his siblings when they were kids, what he learned from viktors book, and the few weeks hes spent back with them trying to save the world. like when he went to luther in season 2 trying to get him to help save the world, because for all intents and purposes luther is the best choice hes always been the most gung ho about being a leader and having a mission and in season 1 he also really wanted to save everyone so id bet fives really thrown for a loop when asking for his help and getting basically a "piss off" in return
From what I've seen so far Five seems to be the heart of the show, Aidan really is an amazing actor.
Five is such an amazing and consistent character! Full of hilarious lines and meaningful ones too, I’m just ENTERTAINED whenever he’s on screen! He’s my favorite HANDS DOWN! 👏🏼

I feel like Five uses his biting sarcasm and wit as a defense mechanism to drive people away and make them dislike him, because he's terrified of losing more people he cares about after losing everything in the apocalypse. But it's very telling how in s3 he warms up to Lila and lets her into the family even though he despised her in s2. He has a kind and caring heart deep down; he's just afraid to show it because he's had to put all his personal feelings and emotions aside to survive the trauma of the apocalypse and focusing on saving the world and his family. Not to mention the fact that Reginald didn't help them much at all with emotional maturity. When he gives up on saving the world in s3, he's much more warm to everybody (except Reginald for obvious and completely-valid reasons).
Aidan is such a great actor, his take on Five's character is unbelievable. He took this role when he was just 14, and he's been doing great ever since, giving Five a unique characterization. He really is the soul of this show, and Aidan deserves recognition for his huge talent.

The most unbelievable part about Five to me is that throughout all three seasons he still wears his Umbrella Academy uniform. Seriously you would think by now he would have gotten himself some new threads.
He doesn't wear it in season 3, they show him wearing new clothes in almost all of the video

I think that's because he was on the clock as it were, focused on the mission. After all, most commission agents wear suits. As soon as he thinks he has some down time, he finds some casual clothes, albeit ones an old man would wear. As soon as he's back in mission mode, he has a three piece suit tailored. Plus, like he said he spent about 20 days straight trying to stop apocalypses. He was probably getting a bit ripe by the start of season 3.

Five Hargreeves being the best umbrella academy member/character. Aidan Gallagher literally carrying the ENTIRE show on his tiny shoulders since day 1.
Five is probably 90% of the reason I watch this show. I'd never even heard of TUA or Aiden Gallagher before and I was absolutely impressed by him after just an episode or two. And amazingly, he just keeps getting better each season!
Five is the most relateable character in the show, his sarcasm is immaculate
Honestly, it felt so weird to see Five wear that flannel over his shirt in the first clip, because he actually looks like a normal teenager. But I actually really like that look on Aidan!

I think Five has a hero complex even though he refuses it lmao he keeps trying to save the world because it's "necessary" but then again he still keeps saving his siblings despite, logically speaking, he doesn't really *need* to and not to mention all they cause him is trouble... Deep down, he has a big heart that is too overlooked, no one seems to appreciate the effort he's done and it's criminal. It's heartbreaking to see him with so much self-loathing. He doesn't even trust himself :')

Out of all the siblings he's the only actual hero. The rest of them are quite selfish. Five has time and time again put the lives of the entire humanity over everything else but his siblings would fck shit up. Poor guy tries everything he can to keep his siblings alive while saving the world but maybe a time will come in future where he would be given a difficult choice.
They're trying to live their lives, but he lost that chance a long time ago.
