Your mill-work is amazing. I'm not big on the pattern of the wallpaper but to each their own, I don't like green for a decorating color. Did you guys put a drip edge on the stone under the sink, if not wouldn't the water wick to the cabinet that you were pointing out, like it does on the end of a gable roof? That is a great building tip, that piece of stone. You guys, do some of the most amazing building practices, I have ever seen. I've been an electrician for 33 years. The room totally painted green, with the walnut, actually looks amazing. After I said, in my last comment, I don't like green, as a decorative color. lol. Great Job top notch builder.
Is the painted white brick behind the cooktop some sort of special paint that makes it easy to clean grease off? And handling a heavy pot behind the pillar to access the sink...seems back-breaking.
Subjectively, it looks like the doors at ~2:07 are upside down. I think I would have carried the smaller panels across the top but it's nice either way. Questionable wallpaper choice but otherwise beautiful all around. Love the craftsmanship. Always curious as to why wealthy people want essentially 2 kitchens, multiple fridges, and pantries that could feed a small town lol. In my experience, with 75% of my wealthy clients, they've never even turned on their grandoise cooking appliances, and I've seen a lot of empty or frost filled 2nd/3rd fridge and freezers. I spent ~3 years on/off in Needham doing finishes on one of the biggest houses I've done to date for a project manager who ended up being let go from his company. Asked a friend who still worked there and "he can't finish his own house in 5 years, how do you think his other projects were going." Not even sure if his house was done when he moved back to the midwest for work. Looking forward to the final.
BEAUTIFUL! Will you install a peep hole in the front door? I hope that the outlet and switch could be changed to a brown one in the wood kitchen cabinet. I also think that instead of standard white switches, ivory switches and outlet plates would look better. Even if it weren't a perfect match, it would still look much better than the white cover plates. The Greene & Greene style wallpaper makes the house SO special!!!
It has been a while since this preview of the final finish was published. Is there an estimated time frame in which we will see the final? I just loved watching this build from the lot clearing to this nearly-finished stage, both here on CZcams and driving past it regularly on my commute to some of my own customers.
That wallpaper is so dark and busy :X ...client is always "right" tho. It would've been a nice accent in a room or too but extends way too far imo. All the other details are amazing though! Rarely see craftsmanship like that anymore. (Also it's funny how they seemed to be OK with... the most basic bog-standard decora switches/plates too. Odd they cheaped out on that.)
Another great project! At some point can you talk about what types of finishes you use for the different rooms? For example, does a high wear area such as the kitchen get a different coating than a paneled wall? I don't know if you can specify brand names, but if not that, then possibly the type of coating used. The 2k waterborne poly's are now trending for refinish jobs in kitchens, just wondering what you spec out for new construction.
Build and quality of finishes is excellent - only trumped by a horrible palette selection and wallpaper fail. I will say the entry and dog area is an exception.
Yeah why didn't they paint it grey? 😂😂. Bro the whole essence of this house is meant to resemble a craftsman style mansion. They don't paint an entire room monochromatic green so that it looks cookie cutter. Wallpaper has been climbing in popularity again for the past several years and when used properly is very flattering. I honestly want to shake the owners hand, they have built this house the way they want it and it doesn't have to follow certain trends. You should see some of the new Gothic revival styled builds out there. This is unbelievably tame in comparison
As an European I always wonder about the american design choices and execution...it reminds me of Disneyland somehow. It might be the combination of the finish for the walls, the wallpaper and glossy paintwork as well as that overall retro look. But at the end the owner has to get what he wants and that's fine.
What's impressive to me is that you can build and finish an ultra luxury house or something like this (which isn't my style but i can appreciate the details)

I just view this video and I'm trying to find what should be a final video on the project as implied would be coming. Certainly there should be final walk through finished out but the last video in the playlist, the one after this is for another project. What gives?

What a great project. I’ve been in the custom cabinet business for 20 years and I can appreciate that Materia Millwork is really top shelf quality.

Beautiful home!!! I have spent months , literally, removing all the wallpaper in my house!!! So I am not a fan of wallpaper!!!
I did two parts fabric softener 1 part vinegar and 3 parts water in a spray bottle. Worked great
