I think I can beat that time, I’m painting at 6.50am ha-ha. Needing to learn tequnique for painting mist. Low cloud over hills in a Lake District scene. These days give real lovely dramatic feeling when on holiday there. They always say, if the clouds are over the hills you can expect a fourtnight of solid rain. Bye, bye holiday ha-ha. I never minded those days, they always seemed peaceful and thoughtful times. We once got caught high up on the fells when the clouds came down suddenly even though the morning had been bright and clear. We couldn’t see our hands in front of our face and the only way we could see the path ahead was by looking for the kairns or heaps of stones and rocks created over hundreds of years of people adding a few stones each time they pass by. We were luck that day not to become lost. Also my Dad had been in the RAF so he knew exactly what to do. So if you go fell walking check the weather before you set off, let someone know when you are expected back and always wear a good pair of hiking boots with a wind and rain proof coat. Even if the day is beautiful when you set off. The weather changes so quickly high on the fells you can easily get caught in a thunder storm needing mountain rescue to get you home.

Hi Clive, thank you so much for doing this video. I picked up a paintbrush for the first time in my life 2 weeks ago and was looking for some guidance that i could actually understand and follow. My niece advised me to watch and subscribe to your channel. She claims that you're the best and i must say that she is right! Your instructions are clear and simple and i'm really entertained by your monologue. I'm glad you did this particular painting as I'm fascinated by the mystical and this misty forest feels mystical to me. One day i hope to 'reveal' the fairies and other mystical creatures that i already know are in that forest along with the magical sword that i could see in the distant of this misty forest... :-)

Had a go at this, this morning at 4.30 when I get up, part way through your vid your dog barked it just sounded like a dog outside and Suzi my little yorkie took off barking and woke the house up, lol I wasn't very popular, any way I did it and enjoyed it until the end I did my blue to strong and spoilt it, so I blacked the canvas and will start again tomorrow on a new canvas, thanks again Clive, take care...Alex

I have had a long variety of experience in many areas I always want to learn about a new subject being dyslexic I was always pushed to the back of the class in school they were different times but this only made me more competitive and eager to learn I have always had a need to know how things work and what they are made of to this day I’m still learning new skills it keeps me busy for sure

I have done a few tutorials from various artists and I must say that this painting has been a favorite amongst my family and friends. I tend to stray from the step by step however the basics I manage to apply. In this case, the depth of field and the mist. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent.

Just tried this and I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome.
At first it was a bit difficult but as soon I had a base I could work on it was not that hard. I just took my time to paint it and decided to paint more like a witch Forrest with some signs and animals and then left it blue/grey.
The tutorial was really helpful bc I never painted a Forrest before ^^

Natural sponge you can buy them in an art store they use them for watercolours

I only suggest the straight on shots at the end because I love to watch your how to and then paint from your finished paintings at the end.
