Solution to the helicopter controls. The devs should at a pitch in the position of forward and reverse buttons. That will give a much more realistic feel.

Jb don't give up. I'm using 3x ac64 joule at 9500 with 2 rads and an averter. I dodge the missiles because I have no flock yet!!! Use evasive maneuvers and incorporate rolls. Plenty of non missiles matches happening but you can out maneuver missiles manually.
people tell me i can dodge with q and e but that never works when i do it. i must be missing something or doing it wrong or just using to heavy and slow builds
You need flares in the front AND the back of your build to ensure missiles dont hit you. If missiles are coming at you head on, having the flares in the back is gonna hurt you. They dont cost any energy so its worth it to do that
I really enjoy the heli mode except long wait times and especially the missile spam. Havent played in a week or two because of missile spam.
I don't have a problem with the flights controls. I liked them how they are. You just have to play the nice enough to learn the button and mouse combinations to get the movement you want . It really does work well

Helicopter gamemode is a mouthful yeah, people play with meta build to win, not even have fun.

JB use helicopters at 6k. I do good with 2 fused whirls side mounted with a petrel and 2 humming birds. 2 fuse blue radiators, and a fused blue cooler. it works pretty good as an art build.
Yeah the only reason I would play helicopter mode again is if they put plastic-batteries-electronics mission rewards.

These builds look INSANE!
Loved the video @JBRider! Can't wait for the next video man! While a lot of Builds on Crossout Look great and Can Play just as Great, I think Gaijin could put a little bit more Work into the "Air Forces" of Crossout. The fight in the Air cannot simply be won by Helicopters and Helicopters alone, Helicopters Actually didn't start to Seriously come into the Military Arsenal until Vietnam with many Pioneering Designs coming out in the Late 1930's and Early 1940's. The Arrival of Helicopters in Crossout, However, will more than likely bring New Life and The Originally Intended Purpose to Tank Designs like the Soviet ZSU-23-4 "Shilka" or the 2K22 Tunguska in the game. The Tunguska could simply get a Few Starfalls and then a Couple of Missiles added to them to complete the Design and Players who've built these Tanks will have a Blast knowing that they Protected their Teammates from getting Wrecked from Above.

They should make the flare pods have a periodic firing mode like how War Thunder has, where a flare is fired off every second.
I think they need more range right now it only deflect 10meters from a flare which is very close to you creation
JB you play with your barrel roll mode activated. You have two different fly modes. You'll have a better time if you play with it off. Use situationally.
How do i turn that off? never heard about that option.
Yeah you came across the scourge of Crossout right now, groups vs randoms. Makes playing quite unfun for the randoms, and I don't see how it's much fun for the groups either but they must be getting something out of it.
The controls of helis are fine - it's all about builds / design.
I currently have 4 helicopters that are art builds (made RL models In-Game) with different design/purpose and you can really tell the difference in controlling them. You should give thrm a look:
MH6 Little Bird (fast, nimble /w 2x Equalizers)
MH6 Night Bird (fast, nimble /w 2x Therms)
AH64 Apache (heavy, durable /w Joule and 2x Pyralids)
AH56 Cheyenne (between all above) /w GL-55 and 2x Pyralids)

I honestly don't expect any nice/fun gameplay experience from PvP in Crossout at all (this game is hard to be competitive, except for some brawls), but you can still get some fun out of this game in other ways.
Off We Go! Brawl showed us a lot of things, how cheap and cheezy players can be (no surprise for me that we see a lot of boxes with guns). But to be fair and honest, homing missiles ain't much of a problem if you're using the right build - it's kinda obvious that slow, steady and giant crafts are being annihilated in the air. The other real thing is your teammates - if you ain't got a support and overrush forward, you'll be more likely targeted by multiple enemies, especially bots. Teammates and Wingmans are important, just like many people forget about PTFO. :)

Is it possible to build a helicopter melee build? Boosters and a tusk maybe, cloak up and rip rotors off? Certainly wouldn't be a highly effective build but might be fun to try... 🙃
Another great video JB. I personally only play land vehicle in helicopter mode, simply because you get more feature. And mainly because I don't want to be angry against trombones, pyres and hurricanes!
I do this a lot as well. Usually with 3 Spectres or 4 MG13s.
Just mount the MG13s sideways in combination with Omni wheels, so you can use them as AA. :)
And an art build with caucuses would slap
Great video JB!!! Hey. I know its super unconventional but could you run a tusk build with backwards facing bigram legs? Just stay in wheel mode and boost into people. I'm thinking the hight will alow you to hit cabins instead of side armor.

The helis fly like drones, i have to say i like it, although the rates need to be turned up so you can fly them a bit easier imho

I'm on the fence about getting this BP as well. If I don't continue using the heli mode, then the only semi-useful thing would be the dove minelayer and the homing missile deflect thingy. Some coins on top as well. Is it really worth it?... Can't tell. Cause it's not as fun, tbh.
How are people getting into these matches with builds without propellers??? On console it will only allow build's with a propeller for this mode but have seen Alot of players running ground builds?
I feel the same about the air game right now. Hopefully, the devs can tune it. Air craft , I feel, should have a higher spend generally. Just a bit.
They could add a blueprint restriction, where they simply ban missiles. ;)

Hey JBrider! I Posted the Strange half Meta Car Yesterday, Having problems with Heli's? Go play at lower than 8k, its quite fun and more forgiving.... Hate those Pesky Helis?...Use cars designed to shoot down Helis!
So many fun weapons to choose from, but somehow there's always a few unskilled assholes using missiles...
you need to use space for ground targets.... you need to roll more.....

the general warthunder style of no repawns is what always turns me off
on the last helicopter mode i had spark with 3 miniguns
missiles were just nothing to me
In the last mode the rotor felt much more maneuverable so dodging missiles was easy for me this time around players say they can dodge missiles easy with the new rotors but I just can't seem to do it. I am using art builds only so maybe that is why.
Those helicopter wing structural parts look so disappointing. 40 hp and a measly 50% passthrough. It looks like a great weapon mount spot except it'll get blown off by a breeze.
Yep, 2023 was the year creativity died in Crossout.
in my opinion its the controls that make helicopters so boring to play.. the main problem is looking where you shoot, its so annoying. for example: To aim at someone above you, you have to aim your entire build up, causing you to drop in altitude and go backwards, to aim at someone bellow you, you have to aim your entire build down causing you to drop rapidly in altitude and gain uncontrollable speed. Idk it just makes it feel like your flying a plane rather than a helicopter.. i mean literally, the jet shown in the video was made just because helicopter rotors genuinely feel like a plane instead of what they are meant to be.
On console just hold the brake and accelerator and you will be in a hover kind of mode and can just tilt the craft left and right to strafe. If you need to go forward just let go of the brake.
Yeah if I hold brake on pc or console it will keep u steady
There's such thing ad Spacebar - its purpose is to stabilize the craft, allowing to just hover and aim at targets.

I have found the better the build looks the worse it will do and that is true of cars and planes.
I Think we don't want Heli mode, but we need Deathmatch game mode.

Great content as always but I stopped playing this mode after just 1 week as got so fed up with all the hurricane & caucasus builds
Personally i play the helicopter mode to geind for scrap becuase the reward is higher

Okay JB, I have not flown since the last flight patch update... I just flew for hours tonight,.... And I got to try the flight physics.... Holy shit.. its way different. You slide a lot more... like inertia is a huge pull on your craft now... BUTTTTTTT... HOLY fuck its way easier to avoid guided missiles now... I flew with my cloak and barely used it... I just dodged missiles left and right. its all in keeping your speed up.. and using your space along with banks and rolls... 95% of the missiles just kept flying right past me. Bro just practice flying more...
So far I have only played art build. If i stream tonight I'll only do Heli's and just practice a bit
@JBRider I think 90 speed minimum is a good number for being able to dodge guided rockets.
Is anyone else content with grey weapons? I have fused yellow cabs and weapons and would be content if the game only had grey weapons.

I wish they added a minimum weight requirement on fliers so people cant do BOX with auto-aim turrets or auto aim rockets only. it ruins the game so much
