      I think this is the main reason why I’m getting on so much better with the Avanti too. The dragonfly feels a little to aggressive for me coming from a road running background

    Another great video Ben! I've got an open track 5km event coming up and I can't decide between the Avanti and the Takumi Sen 8 for it (I know technically the TS8 is illegal!) but from a pure performance perspective, which one would be your pick? Thanks buddy 💪🏾

    • @BenIsRunning
      @BenIsRunning  Před 2 lety +3

      If I could get away with wearing Takumi I’d wear them but the avanti have a very similar feel just slightly less lightstrike pro

    Honestly great video! I stumbled upon this video and although i don't run 5k found thins quite interesting. Just a question, what would you recommend for track shoes for 400-800 (aside from the very dominant air zoom victories)?

      Not worth the money, and less comfortable/versatile. You can run the same time in the Dragonfly for mid distance. Bergin just ran the 800 WL in them.

    Avanti just dont get enough credit. Adidas needs more marketing on it. Btw pls do a review if u are willing to try the ambitions. They are really cheap on sportshoe. I saw some 5k runners using it especially the NAU bois. They kinda swear by it

    • @BenIsRunning

      Comes down to personal experience but the main difference here is in the level of cushioning. Much more so in the Adidas so i personally prefer it for the longer track distances.

  • @johnwhitfield8456
    @johnwhitfield8456 Před 2 lety

    No protection in Dragonfly. Couldn’t do 5k in it. The ZoomX is too rigid compared with Alpha/Vaporfly.

  • @kristinbolt7217

    Does adidas avanti tyo spikes make too much noise when you are running fast with that ?

  • @Tendonology
    @Tendonology Před 2 lety +4

    Personal opinion: unless your running sub 15:30 at least I’d suggest wearing racing flat road shoes, more support and kinder on the calf’s! . 15:30 is only 75 seconds per lap so no
    real proper forefoot running. If your running 14 minutes then these shoes may help otherwise leave them at home !
    Just my thoughts.

    • @BenIsRunning
      @BenIsRunning  Před 2 lety +3

      Thank you David. Appreciate your opinion. Would have to disagree about your footstike point though as even some of the fastest runners in the world don’t land on ‘real proper forefoot’. But yes you’re probably right that performance wise the benefit for elites is likely greater than say your average parkrunner :)

    • @yankaitan8648
      @yankaitan8648 Před 2 lety +1

      @@BenIsRunning so right ben. But i do agree on this guy whereby if u arent that fast, there isnt a need to spike up for 5k and up. I think under 16mins will be good for spikes.
