My favorite place! Been on top 7 times and I wish I was still able but unfortunately age has ended my climbing career. I now experience it’s glory vicariously by following AT through hikers. From cloudless skies to impenetrable fog to being hailed on while crossing the Knife edge to aiding the ranger in a rescue that same day. Memories I will cherish for the rest of my life.

I have climbed this mountain two and a half times. Once it was sleeting and raining part way up and we had to turn back because the rocks were too slippery. Thanks for the great video.

Excellent, Jeff Dobbs. I just love the Burl Ives-like Jack Perkins voice. I first watched this prior to writing the third in the Perpetual series of novels -- about the adventures of characters from the North Woods of Maine. www.BrianHuey.com Immersing myself into Baxter State Park and the Allagash Wilderness is to this day of my life's greatest experiences. "Katahdin was made for the God's." Indeed. Check out Perpetual where Pamola, the Micmac and Penobscot god who rules at the peak of Katahdin, creates a storm that rivals any in Maine's history, and threatens to end the lives of our Millinocket characters. “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." --Thoreau Hmm.
