She gave you incorrect information. Quartz is man made material and is temperature sensitive. It is made from crushed quartz and epoxy resin and glued together. Quartzite and granite are the best stones to go with. They do not have the issues marble and quartz have.

I love my quartz counters and if you get pre-cut they're much cheaper. You only need the slab material if you have unusual shaped areas to cover

    • @remusmariandragan635

There's is no precut, they are man made so they are custom, no limit.

    It's not without problems
Go to any store or cinema counter..I've seen chunks missing..the size of popcorn and it's expensive to fix
Small chips appear at the edge of undermount sinks and where dishwashers meet the counter
    I'm still considering getting it
Hope the darker colours like wild rice don't streak when u wipe them cos that's another pain ( granite streaks like crazy)
I'd get lAminate but don't like the inevitable joins
    Sigh...nothing is perfect
Have heard that caesarstone does indeed stain so Martha... Check your facts

I just got my quartz counter top last week and it got a stain from setting a tea cup on it. It does not come off after cleaning with soap and water. I wish I had seen reviews about quartz about stains and got granite.

You seal granit 2 times a year so as quartzite, 4 time marble. Also you need to seal that cheap fake quartz.

What happens when you put a very hot frying pan right on top of quartz?

    • @joanwood9480
      @joanwood9480 Před 4 lety +3

Quartz is manufactured with a resin bonding the quartz together. A Hot pan will damage the countertop. I learned as a child to NEVER put a hot pan on the countertop. Put a trivet, towel, pot holder, something under the pan or put it in the sink. Also, you never cut straight on the counter, always use a cutting board. This is simple common sense stuff you should already know

  • @handdle-h2o

the consensus seems to be that a flat quartz surface can have a stain issue if something of 150 degrees or more Fahrenheit is left for a period of time. To my knowledge nobody in the world has measured temps at the point where the actual contact with the quartz is made or determined how much time can then be an issue. We have quartz and I've been using the human skin as a reasonable guess so if its too hot for my hands to hold then it needs a safety item under. Hot bottom of a pan is too hot to hold so that gets protected. This is just a rule of thumb for me and not scientific at all . I sort of stuck at the microwaved leftover chili in a Tupperware container as can't get my thermometer to get a good read so for now reluctantly playing it safe

Martha is pitching man made countertops that use a resin and quartz as if they had the same physical qualities as just the mineral quartz. They are not the same! Quartz countertops aren't nearly as hard as the mineral and since they contain epoxy resins, they will melt when something hot such as a pan is placed on top. Nice sales pitch, however misleading information. The countertops are great for people who are careful but if you have clutzes in the house, you better stick with granite and seal every 4-5 years.

Quartzite is the all natural material and pricy but better. Quartz is not just as it comes from the quarry as is Quartzite but a created product. That's why she said "quartz comes from Georgia! rofl The best mines are in Egypt, Turkey etc. not Georgia. There is incorrect info in her ad.

    • @1hogchop

Quartz can scratch and crack. Granite does not. It is not as hard as granite. It also is not really more exoensive, as granite has various grades from 45 dollars to well over 200 dollars per sq. ft.

She’s wrong, quarts stains and is made made from crushed quartz and other materials and is glued together. It is temperature sensitive as can stain and crack. Quartzite is the hardest and most durable of all the natural stone along with granite and has no temperature sensitivities or stain issues like marble and quartz does. Quartzite is what you want to go with other than granite.
