    I intended on getting Quartz for my kitchen but saw a piece of Mont Blanc Quartzite that I couldn’t pass up. The slabs weren’t like any other pieces of the same name that I’ve ever seen. Even tried researching on the internet to see if there was a similar one. It has bright white/pearl veining in it!
    I did leathered black granite for my outdoor space. Love that as well!
    The rest of my home will suffer with less expensive materials. Lol

    I love the granite. I have the textured black in my tiny kitchen over flat front maple cabinets. I used simple black hardware from Rejuvenation Hardware (jewelry) and I love the mixture. I use cutting board oil on my cabinets and they look so pretty even after 3 years. I have Ceasar stone in the bathroom and it’s white with subtle grey veining. Over a white vanity. My favorite is the textured granite for sure. Easy maintenance and very easy to clean. I use a granite counter top spray…easy, easy, easy. I like no fuss products. Your home looks beautiful, I love all the texture. ❤️

    Quartz is soft and will chip at the edges if you do not take care. The good thing is that you can form epoxy at a chip and cover it up. But you need to have a color that will not show the epoxy.

    Very helpful info, thank you! Question about the honed and leathered dark granite specifically... I’m seriously considering using for bathrooms and kitchen in our new build. How does it hold up to daily use with kids? Oil/grease from stove and cooking? Water spots/streaks/stains (that don’t come out with cleaning) from washing hands/face/dishes? Essentially day-to-day real life living and using with a hubby and little kids. :) I don’t mind regular and consistent cleaning but I do mind when new things look damaged that I can’t fix! It’s my OCD!

  • @ElizabethBreeding-iq1tq

    • @DesignLovesDetail
      @DesignLovesDetail  Před 3 lety +1

      In regard to things being timeless with the 2 different countertops in one space, I think so! I think as long as both selections compliment one another it shouldn’t be too trendy. It sort of feels more like an artisan look or almost like furniture where the top is customized to the cabinetry.
      And with the concrete sink, I have loved it! I’ll be sharing more about soon with our bathroom reveal! I notice a little hard water spot every once in awhile, but nothing that’s driving me crazy. It such a cool sink! They do have a lighter color of it available too so that might be more ideal for not showing anything. I’ll be sure to link both when I get that video posted! :)

    Thoughts on the trend toward white kitchen counters and away from black? I still prefer black over white for practical reasons, but people say that dark counters cut the space in two or weigh down the room. Thoughts? 🙏

    • @DesignLovesDetail
      @DesignLovesDetail  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey there! I still like the contrast of the black countertops in a lot of cases. I can see the point of it dividing the space some, but I haven’t worried about that too much in my designs. I usually just focus on what pairs best with the cabinet color and overall aesthetic of the space and I agree with you on the practical side too! You’ll have to see what you think of it in our remodel kitchen as soon as I get the full video made! It has the dark countertop for the entire island and I’ve really loved it! :)

    • @LNatureblush
      @LNatureblush Před 2 lety

      Never heard of a porcelain countertop before, but let me know how it goes. I have been trying to look for quartz manufacture that looks like marble not sure where you are located, but you should check out Arizona Tile in California. There is this quartz called “silver stallion” that looks marble like because the pattern has depth unlike other quartz that look like it is printed with a pattern. (flat and dimensionless). It still doesn’t look as good as marble but one that looks somewhat better than all the other quartz out there.
