    Love my Orlandoos. I will be trying this esc for sure.

    Looks like a very good tiny ESC! That low speed control / no sound is super nice.

      For Orlandoos it is for sure perfect - because of lights and the LV servo out. And super cheap...

    Squeeze the rear wheel arches together and unclip the back then slide body forward and front will unhook on the jeep orlandoo. I did enjoy building my orlandoo I may have cursed a lot during the build but the feeling of achievement when it was done was worth it (I used the smd lights)

    You mention furitek for brushless near the end there. How do crawler ESCs compare to "pro" HobbyWing or DakMikro 1/28 scale ESCs? Can they spin the motor slower? Do you have a video on brushless ESCs? I like your long form presentation style.

      The brushless (Furitek) can for sure spin slower than even the best brushed ESCs. I showed this shortly in several of my micro ESC videos. But you will have this "jump" from FOC to normal.
      I made a super long video about the first Furiteks about two years ago (since then Furitek will not send me anything for testing any more ;-) ) - newer versions are better.
      In elder versions the brushed motors (030, 050) had clearly more punch than the brushless setups (Komodo 1400 kv with Lizard v1), but the new, smaller BL motors improved.
      I made a MCCT video (my micro crawler capability test series) with SCX24 Deadbolt and Komodo / Lizard nearly two years ago (?), but I never published this video. Because this very expensive brushless setup was a clear downgrade compared to even the stock SCX24 v1. Super super slow speed, yes - but no punch and high center of gravity. Deadbolt was not able to climb all the obstacles in this setup, no chance (could/can do everything in stock setup). I talked with some other (YT-) guys about this and then decided not to publish this MCCT episode. Because people do not want to hear that their super expensive upgrade is a downgrade in crawling performance. Furitek and brushless was extremely hyped in the beginning, with reviewers even hiding the most obvious downsides (the "jump" for example). Had some quarrels then, because I mentioned under their videos, that they "hide" negative points... and finally do my thing.
      There were so many "promo-videos" at those times, even of large channels, which hyped the BL setup extremely at this time - it did not make any sense to discuss this topic at this time with those channels or "the crowd".
      IMO a light crawler with 030 or 050 motor and top tiny ESC (e.g. ASX24, Klemm Floh) performs still better than a BL version.
      But also BL (Furitek, Mofo, ...) micro setups have improved very much since then.
      And since micro crawlers get heavier and heavier and people use super heavy (brass) upgrades, a BL-setup for sure can make sense.
      People want "strongest, fastest, slowest", use super heavy and extremely strong micro servos, etc. - for this a BL setup for sure can be the way to go. But companies meanwhile also changed, use larger brushed motors (180, even 260), which are stronger, have top low speed performance... but also the same downsides as BL setups (or even more negative): Heavy and high cog.
      I have two of the DasMikro BL micro ESCs, first did not work, got a replacement, second one did not work, either... they are "in the box" for about 1 or 2 years now...
      Have you any experience with the DasMikro BL ESCs? Would be very interested in some videos or other info about those, I stopped.
      I have the new Surpass sensored BL ESC/motor combo for some months now and will probably soon make a video, will put it into my TRX-4M, and then maybe I will compare it to Furitek Micro Komodo, Lizard Pro (on the bench).

      @@donaldsneffe Thanks for the thorough reply!
      I'm building an OH Trophy Truck, and caught the bug and have the Rock Bouncer and Defender lined up too, so looking into what electrics will work in those. I wanted a BL setup because we moved to BL in RC racing sooooooo many years ago and I didn't want any RTR radio/ESC combo because I want to use one transmitter for all my cars.
      I don't understand the price point of Furitek stuff, and plenty of people are running DasMicro electronics at club level 1/28 scale events, so I have some brand trust. I currently have the DIY V3 DasMicro ESC in the Trophy Truck - the ESC is great and smooth but finding motors that fit and don't burn out is problematic..
      This little Azure Hawker ESC looks quite good, and allows my own receiver. Because of location I'm not able to get the other two brushed ESCs you mention.

      @@laffs4084 I did buy a cheap BL Outrunner for Orlandoos recently from Ali, without ESC. Will try it with Furitek... but donno in which model and when... sooo many projects.
      Still did not build the trophy truck. Will probably make a video, should be by far the easiest Orlandoo to build so far.
      I am surprised that you do have such good experience with DasMikro.
      I do use products from them for many years now, but none of those were "easy". I have those super micro (nano) receivers for Flysky AFHDS, they are great, but complicated. Micro receiver for AFHDS 3 (Flysky Noble) failed after some time. I guess the sound system in my first Orlandoo (the old Ford in this video) is also from DasMikro. And probably some more stuff over the years, kinda genius products, but mostly customers are Beta-testers and mostly no manuals.
      My DasMicro BL-ESCs are thosw, that come with the coloured JST PH plugs (red, green, blue, yellow). Is this the ESC your buddies use and that works for them?
      Modellbau-Regler.de will ship worldwide (for sure to US and Canada), has quite some customers from there.
      Klemm (Floh ESC) only sells via Amazon, but now (since start of 2023) only ships to Germany. I am in Austria, I cannot buy any Klemm Floh ESC anymore to my home address ;-) (this is so stupid, is because of new EU packaging regulations, every country "special", my country especially "strict", and it would be way too expensive for small companies to follow those regulations, so they simply do not / cannot ship to Austria anymore). However, awesome ESC, I have five or six here (I helped to develope the Floh, he sent me some for testing, as I did for the ASX24 a year before with Modellbau-Regler.de, I tested, said no, and no, and no, ... till all problems were solved and then they were available on Amazon. Awesome guy, scientist, Dr. tech., developing ESCs and extremely sophisticated ESC programs as hobby).

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  Před 6 měsíci +1

      No, would have to change electronics (receiver) in my Mini-Z 4x4... but still run mine on stock electronics ;-) - but will for sure work perfectly.

      @@donaldsneffe Thanks! I’d like to test on one of my Mini-Z’s - still they’re pretty good stock. How about FMS 1:18?

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@Sol-hl2rj Same thing. In the FMS with the "good" new Flysky receiver/rx combo, that also comes with the FCX24, so the FCX18 and the RocHobby Fire Horse, this does not make sense IMO, because you would have to exchange electronics and those are really good (very good ESC, ... plus dragbrake settings, light functions).
      In all other FMS/RocHobby/EazyRC 1/18 trucks, which do not have those "good" electronics, you'd have to completely exchange those (so new radio/receiver). Could/would make sense and be an improvement, and you even could control lights.
      Only exceptions: FMS Atlas 6x6 and RocHobby Katana and "old FMS LC80" (silver) - those still came/come with the old Turbo Racing electronics, you could still use stock radio and only buy a Turbo Racing 4-ch receiver (about 10 bucks) and use the ESC with this setup, will for sure work. I made some videos with Atlas and Katana using the AS12/6RW ESC about 2 or 3 years ago - same procedure with the Azure Hawker.
      If I remember correctly, all other FMS/RocHobby/EazyRC 1:18 trucks do come with this larger "intermediate" radio (same as the 1/12 Willys Jeep has) or even the cheapo EazyRC radios and you cannot use those with an external ESC, because they do not have a CH2-out (as SCX24 v1 and v3 and Panda Hobby trucks have).
