Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. My husband and I did the Antarctic trip a few years ago. We also had a wonderful time and I did the polar plunge at 75 yrs. The grandchildren were even impressed.
One of the first vlogs we saw was the Trans Siberian railway trip, we did it from Ulan Batam to Moscow. Having the same cabin the whole trip was super and staying at the great hotels every few nights.
I’m so enjoying all your trips and I hope you keep going xxx

I never get jealous of people travels, but antarctica is just different. One of my dream destinations
same here. i recently checked them out..legitimately need a buget of like £8000 minimum ( per person on two people sharing)..if u go for the most frugal option you can find. I would reckon they have not gone for the cheapest option. I bet it is like £15 000 a person just the cruise they booked..

Up until now, I've never wanted to go to Antarctica because I'm like Kara, I don't do well in the cold. Just the thought of cold or freezing temperatures sends shivers down my spine. However, after seeing this video I wanna go and especially do the Polar Plunge!!! Thanks Kara and Nate!

Beautiful pictures and fantastic experiences. It takes an impressive amount of intestinal fortitude to dive into a sub-freezing temperature, as salt-water actually does not freeze at 0 degrees Celsius. Obviously, this Antarctica experience takes place during the 'southern hemisphere' summer in February. Great show Kara and Nate, thank you for giving all of us an experience we can enjoy as fellow humans.

@@nyad9994 viruses can easily live in those conditions. It's 25-30F right now - just like any city of the US in winter - and as you know, we get hit by lots of flu in the US during winter.

I remember when I first came to Finland and people wanted me to jump in a hole they made in the ice on a frozen lake and I was like hell no. Now 14 years later it's 1 of the best parts about winter. I do it as often as possible every single winter.

I was a lineman at McMurdo Station Antarctica in 93 -95 I wintered over and did the polar plunge at the Kiwi base, Scott Base, it was amazing, very humbling experience and saw things that people can only imagine 👍❤️

Our atmosphere as well as the whales prefer humans to admire that part of our world in stunning documentaries, rather than shipping all those rich humans hungry for experience around the globe, adding CO2 and whatnot.

Honestly all of this coronavirus business has left me feeling quite disheartened over the last few weeks thinking about all the places and people that have been affected. And although there is much bigger things to be worried and concerned over, I have been quite upset with the fact I will probably not be able to go abroad for the foreseeable future because of the virus as the majority of countries are affected. I have always been a big Kara and Nate fan but over the last while I have loved going back and watching your old and new travel videos, as my way of living my experiences through you. I think your channel is so important because you bring peoples attention to lots of beautiful places many would have never thought to travel to before, and also in this time of crisis you are bringing joy to many people, including myself, who are not currently able to travel and really miss it. Super luxury looking, too. Did they say how much they paid? They're probably doing a video exchange collaboration but my bet is that it's priced so that it weeds out the people who wouldn't genuinely enjoy themselves.
Then there's the pandemic situation that's been threatening all aspects of travel for awhile. If there's not too much latency between when this happened and when we're seeing it, then that could also be a contributing factor.
It looks like it's absolutely stunning. I expect there's a certain amount of reverence simply knowing the challenges of accessing such a remote and harsh location.

I guess my point was though that bringing coffee to your partner isn't really a relationship goal as originally postulated but zooming out to love/respect as the true goal and that's just one small detail of the manifestation thereof. The view is amazing. I have done several polar plunges in various states and the water is basically the same level of cold no matter where you do it. But hard to beat the view there.

Today we had about -10 degrees Celsius where I live (Sweden) and we went “cold bathing” in a lake on our lunch break at work. It’s beginning to get difficult to get in the water now because of the ice we have to break before we can can go in the water. But it’s definitely worth it!
We do it at least once a week and we are in the water for about 3-4 minutes every time. ITS AMAZING. Try it, you won’t be disappointed :)

2 years ago, i've been swimming at the north cape in norway in the barents sea with two friends of mine. to get there we had to walk half an hour through a swamp (in German sumpf). 😂 The water temperature was 3°C (37,4°F). But it was amazing. There was also a newspaper article about us. 😁 So i can feel how hard this jump was haha. Greetings from Germany!

I once saw a pod of 50 or so orca whales when I was on a ferry coming back from Vancouver Island to Vancouver Canada. The ferry actually went off course for over half an hour just to see this phenomenon . It was one of the most magical things I have ever experienced.

It’s not winter all year round up here we have regular seasons just like every where else I come from the province of Alberta where in the summertime it can get up to +50 degrees Celsius

It's all an act lol. All of these "couple CZcamsrs" just put on a show when the camera is rolling, they're probably still good together but they exaggerate everything when filming.
