    00:00 Intro

    02:32 Cabin Ergonomics and Safety
    03:56 Technology and connectivity
    05:31 On-road performance
    07:47 Verdict
This comparison focuses purely on medium vans - those with a gross vehicle mass of between 2.5 and 3.5 tonnes - which can all be driven on a regular car licence.
Our field includes two of the segment's big hitters - the top-selling Toyota HiAce and its runner up, the Hyundai iLoad - which together account for roughly half of the medium van sales in Australia.
In fact, for this test we've secured one of the first examples of Toyota's next-generation HiAce, the model representing the first changing of the guard for the nameplate in 15 years.
Then we have three well-established contenders in Ford's Transit Custom, Renault's Trafic and Volkswagen's Transporter, which all attract similar market shares, plus the latest new entrant to the category, Peugeot's Expert.

Lets be real here. did you expect to buy a new car and NOT love it? There was never going to be a scenario where you picked the car you hated the most.
and in terms of reliability, 16000 km is the same as never having been driven. You and I should resume this discussion about how you "love" your transit when it hits 400 000 km.

How did you get a resale value from two new models, HiAce and the Peugeot? How did you compare performance without mentioning different powertrain options in the HiAce and the VW? Why did you not mention cargo space at all in the HiAce? This was not a review, it was a Ford advertisement.

Ford certainly displayed clever thinking with side mounted tie points offering a flat floor surface for stability. Having load/boxes sitting at an angle with D-hooks piercing through the packaging isn't the best way to transport goods. That might even damage any blown up camping mattress laid down on the floor.

Toyota are great cars but generally overhyped, other car models have really improved on their "reliability" which is pretty much subjective.

@V M I've serviced it every 15k, which is twice as much as the recommended intervals. All the issues are electrical. How do electrical issues make me a "poor owner"? The van is still under warranty, so they always fix it, but I will trade it in for something else as soon as the warrenty runs out.

You can break into this generation of ford transit with a set of pipe pliers in 20 seconds flat. In the U.K. if your a trades man you can expect you van to be attacked. My old Mercedes Vito had the side door bent in half. If you own a transit in the U.K. you will have to get after market locks fitted. Any way I just got a new transporter on lease and am very happy with it. Had the option for the ford but the security is dog shit!

Samuel Lamont I can’t comment because I only have driven the Transit but the Transit is a great van. The interior is great, drives very nicely and with mine being the 6 speed manual it’s fun as well. So far no reliability issues and owning Fords in the past I haven’t had any. The Hiace does look like to be a great van but I preferred the way the Transit drives
