You should ask "Why don't young people use these apps?" It's not that they can't use them, it's that they don't want to use them as much as TikTok. And the answer is simple: it's because TikTok has a better algorithm to make people spend more time on the app. Clearly, all apps want their users to stay longer on their apps, but TikTok has won the competition because more young people spend their time on TikTok than the rest of these apps combined.

In all seriousness, though, a TikToker job is similar to a normal job in someways, but it’s pretty different in a lot of ways. If I get laid off from a plumbing job, I can go get another plumbing job because I would have a tangible useful skill that a company could help me market for consumption. A tiktoker’s product is intangible and somewhat useless, and everything that is “produced” is owned by the company, everything that is produced is also produced on the company’s ‘canvas’, so to speak. When that company leaves, the canvas leaves, there is nothing for you to produce, and you can’t go get another TikTok job. The best you can do is start over on another platform.

The United States will be greatly affected. TikTok is such a beloved app, but in many ways, it's had negative affects, with the things people do on there, the things people say. I'm not a fan of TikTok myself, but I want to keep seeing people doing what they love. Lots of young and aspiring talent on that app. I'm honestly nervous for it.

I'm old enough to clearly remember life without the internet. If it stopped functioning tomorrow, it would take me about 1 day to adjust. Social media companies are even less meaningful (except that they make their owners exceedingly rich).
So what is all the hub-bub about Tiktok, anyway? China has long banned numerous American/internet-based businesses, including Google and Facebook. I don't hear anyone complaining about that.
