this song for a lot Indonesian is a song from our childhood. From one of the most influential Indonesian rapper in the early era. It was a very nostalgic gift from hololiveID for us Indonesian celebrated the independence day

For us Indonesian (especially who born in the late 80s and the 90s), "Bebas" is definitely one of the songs that really memorable in our childhood. The song was originally performed and released in 1994 by Iwa K (pronounced "eewa kay"), an Indonesian Rapper. The lyrics are so easy to understand, even from the translation.
Kaela is a very underrated singer, for sure. I highly recommend checking out her cover of the LoL Works theme "Phoenix". She's such a great singer!
Out of the branches of Hololive, the ID branch just feels like the closest and comfiest to me even if I don't know any language that's not english. They're just, calming in a way that makes my brain feel safe
It always weird how non indo see them as calmest
So an interesting thing with this cover is that it was part of a small project to celebrate the Indonesian Independence Day and so there are voice dramas (like a small audio only skit) which tie in to this cover. The little quips before the song begins and the couple lines after it ends are just linked to the voice drama about what is essentially a kind of newspaper club (though they post their articles on a little board in the school hallway rather than handing out newspaper copies) butting heads with the school council who is thinking about shutting down the club.
Anyway, Bebas is a great song, the ID girls did an amazing cover, and I'm glad you were able to react to it.
A bit more explanation since I looked it up when the song and audio dramas first came out: Mading means "wall magazine," something that is apparently in use in many schools around the world as a sort of free form journalism allowing the information to be posted in a collage manner to promote creativity. If I remember correctly, the central conflict came from the student council (Ollie, Zeta, and Kaela) pushing to disband the Mading club because there was a heavily structured and curated school paper and so viewed the Mading as having no value.
I definitely suggest checking out the audio drama, it was pretty good.
Also, there was a third part to the project which was the first Hololive Indonesia Minecraft Sports Festival. We got a second Indonesian Independence Day celebration from them this year with the second annual Sports Festival and a new branch song/cover.
Kaela's sing is a very rare moment because she mostly do games stream and have a very calm voice once she is singing her voice can be so mind blown.

Hololive Indonesia always release a cover for the Indonesian Independence Day (apart from their very first year) and this cover is from last year. This was also the first time we heard Kaela sing.

This is special to me because this song introduce me to Hololive ID branch and instantly made me fell in love to all ID members upon hearing this song the first time. Kaela, the Sugar Momma of the Hololive Minecraft servers, she of the silent laugh, the Grind Queen of Hololive, the still-undefeated end boss for Hololive fangame devs--- what was I talking about again, oh yeah ~ahem~ She hasn't done many songs, at least not yet. She's done an original song and a few covers. She mostly does very long gaming streams of grind-heavy games.
Some interesting funfact about this song:
- on the recording day, Kobo pick up Ollie (who were still sleeping) at 4 AM using her car, then proceed to buy some early breakfast and then continued to pick up Reine too. Kobo recorded all the reaction when she got the girls at their home on her X audio messages, it was very funny please look it up 😂
- the meeting for the song recording was actually the first time all the 9 girls of ID to meet directly face-to-face, especially for Gen 3 (Kobo, Kaela, Zeta) who were the latest addition to the group.
- there's an audio drama stories for this song, it will explained everythings that happened in this MV, please watch it if you have the time! (Don't worry, there's an EN sub too)
- 7:05 actually, the one who was running around is the kusogaki Kobo, she run towards Ollie and Ollie shout "stop running around!" because you weren't supposed to run in the school hallway (the MV background story) 😂

Bebas is one of my favorite hololive ID group songs.
Have to recommend both of the Startend song covers by Aqua, Suisei and Towa.

Kaela is one of the premier power streamers of hololive, with her streams frequently hitting double digit hours. Shes the queen of grind, and how the other holomems react to that range from actual worship (Okayu) to swearing eternal rivalry (Ollie, but don’t worry, they’re married now.) She’s well worth checking out, and her friendship with Bijou (who is also known for insanely long streams) is absolutely adorable.
For the last part, it's actually Kobo that ran around and Ollie shout at her "don't run around".
I really adore this cover, its the impersonation of joy. Just makes you happy.

I'd love to see a reaction to Polyanna (I believe in you) cover by Korone. A recurring theme from the Mother series, the song has what are quite possibly the most wholesome lyrics in any song ever but Korone, who is a huge fan of the series, just sings with such an earnest love, it will cleanse the soul. Oh, and did I mention she sings in English?
