Richard linklater is the best filmmaker working and he just doesn't get the level of credit he deserves.

i'm not sure
to me the before trilogy as masterpieces
and Dazed and confused is fun
but i dislike slacker and find boyhood quite slow even if it is ok
but in the same vein not a single Charlie Kaufman movie i dislike, i adore them all especially SNY
or like Tomas Vinterberg also
or even Edgar Wright, no way near as deep but smashes it out of the park 90% of the time
where linklater to me is 50/50

@@ACey96 it's truly all subjective, there is no arbiter of truth that says "this director isn't as great as this other one", I personally really enjoyed Boyhood because it relates to my upbringing during the 2000's era. The way Richard nails the conversations and energy between characters no matter the movie is truly magical.
Tichard linklater is.our generations one of the greatest directors , he doesnt get credit for his work

I mean I feel like he is pretty well known and known as one of the better modern American filmmakers: I mean the Before Trilogy, Dazed and Confused, as well as Boyhood are all acclaimed. That's 5 films which isn't like legendary status, but for I feel like he's pretty recognized for what he's produced.
Good takes longer.

He didn’t mess up the first film at all. He completely elevated it and arguably made an even better film with Before Sunset.
Ever since I learned about Amy Lehrhaupt, I want to hug him when I watch the clips of him talking about the trilogy. I now especially get him and, though I have strong doubts about my artistic talent and worthiness, I need to do something similar for my own person, as he did for Amy.
I hope there is going to be a 4th instalment. Colour me keen!

Before Sunset is my favorite film of all time and I’m sad to say that Before Midnight ruined the 1st two films for me. In my mind, 3rd movie never happened
Before midnight definitely ruined the series for me, but I think that's the message of love. You can have the spark of love once or twice but when you try to spark it endlessly... The love runs out. That scene when the young couple talked about how they fell in love online kinda showed the audience the idea of love is for the young, boring marriage is for adults.
I see Before Midnight as the strongest of the trilogy. It's about realism. For two thirds of the film you can see two people who adore each other, especially when they're walking to the hotel. The fight has you switching sides as to who is right and in the end we see that they both are. They are also both wrong. That's real life. That's what love looks like. It isn't perfect like the first two films have you believe.
@@user-jl8yn7og7b i completely agree. That is a real portrait of love. The fighting doesn't diminish the love. They are fighting because they care and are trying to sort things out. They are both giving their best and simply aren't their own romantic selves that they previously were. For me, it was a perfect conclusion.
@j I also loved before midnight just as much as I loved the first two. It felt bittersweet and real, in a non sickeningly sweet, relatable way. Plus I love Greece. It was the perfect backdrop, what with the very life like gathering of these people in that house. Just perfect.
