Years ago when this guy visited my church, I said to my husband that something didn't seem quite right. Not long after that he was accused of being too close to young men.
He visited my church at the time when I lived in Florida. I never liked him and thought something was off. All he ever said was "watch this" and there was nothing to watch for. I also at one point ended up next to him just to find he was only about 5'2 with big shoulders when he looked so tall on TV.

I attended one of his services while visiting friends in the Atlanta area. All show, no substance. While attempting to leave early to catch a flight back home to New Jersey. I physically had to push an usher out of the way, who demanded I stay until I made an offering.

His father was worthless and she just wanted him to have a father figure of some sort . He went around with his Big Brother ( a grown man ) who seemed to be very nice and invested in being a mentor . Fast forward a few years and we find out that man molested my cousin the whole time - he has never been the same and has had to spend time in mental institutions . I dont blame my aunt -but I have never forgotten that .
My mom put my brother in a mentoring group at church for masculine guidance. Thank God there was no scandals & he flourished.
However I remember a few scandals during that time a local churches. It sucks that many blk boys suffer from absent fathers only to suffer from predators.

I’m from around this area, and I remember going to new birth once YEARS ago with my ex. We were so uncomfortable with the vibe it gave off, and we literally left midway through the sermon; because of them CONSTANTLY basically begging about tithe and offering (and not in the Christian way). As we were leaving we were stopped and asked why we were leaving and because we were young, they tried to shame us into staying. And my ex was like, please get out of our way. I visited a friends church once who had asked me to go. The sermon was a sick hateful rhetoric too and I got up to leave and never went back. 2 months later the pastor was inducted on c pornography charges.

I was so disappointed when everything came out but it didn’t surprise me. I was a first hand witness when he started changing and the church just got out of control. But what was the most disturbing was that my brothers and nephews attended thinking they were in the presence of positive black male role models 😢 We stopped attending once the church became bigger than life…
I really believe he was saved and he started out with the Holy Ghost, but power is a strong drug and when people start bowing to you and no one tells you no then you see yourself as GOD and forget the real true and living GOD then you lose your way and u don't even care about destroying others.
