  • We hit the trail in Colorado and Utah with the 2023 Yamaha RMAX2 1000, a side-by-side meant to split the line between work and play. This Yamaha has both generous suspension travel and a dump bed that's good for 600 pounds of capacity.
    Watch the full video to see the RMAX2 1000 in action and let us know what you think in the comments below.

    I really wish I lived somewhere I could truly enjoy one of these. Rented some 1000 RZRs last year and it was tons of fun.

    I'm so glad you came out with this channel! I always enjoyed your content when you were on TFLoffroad as well and was impressed with your detailed reviews. I like the automotive style interior of the Rmax and the fact it has a park brake. I wish other manufacturers would include them as well. I also like all the locations for the switches you can add later for lights and accessories. Great job, keep up the good work.

      100%. I'm actually getting tired of even riding with Polaris owners because of the number of stupid breakdowns.

    Despite the dump box and trailer hitch, this is not a utility machine. If you want a machine for farming, fencing, hunting, yard work, get a Honda Pioneer 1000 with a bench seat and a rear diff. If you want a killer recreation machine that will go anywhere quickly and comfortably, then absolutely get the Rmax. Best trail machine ever built!

    Engine noise level? One thing i don't like about the sxs market is the amount of engine noise u have to listen too constantly. How does the r-max compare especially with a mid engine design?

    Excellent channel. The only thing EVeryone misses. Is maintenance and how easy or hard it is to maintain. In the case of the rmax I hear it’s terrible. Please start adding this to your channel when testing a machine. Also gas mileage would be nice. As knowing how far you can go is important especially with the dam price of gas. Especially in Canada. Lol

      I was also fortunate enough to ride for 2 days at Gateway CO with Yamaha. We rode 111 miles one day, and the final bar just started flashing indicating it had 2.5 gallons left. With the riding we did, 120 miles easily but likely 150. I own an Rmax 4, servicing is more involved than some but having the tranny separate from the rear gear is a plus in other ways. It's also a dry sump system so verifying level takes a little longer too. Maybe noteworthy, but probably not a make or break for most shoppers.

      @heavenleigh111 Před 5 měsíci

      @@coachvonyo I was gonna say that once you get to 100 miles you should start looking for gas. You might be getting a little better milage then me, I don't think I could make it to 150. Although I would like to take an extra jug with me one day and see exactly where it runs out at. I'm sure different clutching between the 2 and 4 door models makes a little difference, along with driving style and terrain. I don't think oil changes are hard to do, just time consuming. Air filter is easy. I haven't been into the belt yet

    So "Big Dude" how did you like that insanely thick inner seatbelt buckle? I removed mine the first night after only one hour of riding around on some back roads and ordered harness because it left a bruise and a week long sore spot. If they are going to make that buckle nearly two inches thick they should've made it higher up so it feel like a big rock between the center section and our hip!

    • @jokers1able
      @jokers1able Před 4 měsíci

      You can adjust the height of the buckle behind the seat?

    You think with Yamaha leaving the snow machine segment behind, they’ll boost investment in development for their bikes and SxS’s?

    I really like the RMAX, but I worry about the noise level. If I use it for "utility" more than half the time, will the noise level wear on me?

    Bought one this week, still waiting to deliver 😁 Question: does it keep the mud out when driving trails? And when you drive through water (wheels under water), does water come in via doors or floor/pedal? (I'm Dutch speaking so I hope I explained it correct...)

    Great video - informative and authoritative. How loud is that Yamaha vs the competition? How reliable? I would expect almost anything Japanese to lean towards reliability over top performance, but that may be my automotive experience bleeding through.

    • @tkpowersports
      @tkpowersports  Před rokem +4

      It's loud. I should have mentioned that in the video. Especially since the engine is nestled right next to you as the driver, the drone seemed particularly loud in this unit.

    • @MotoFish45
      @MotoFish45 Před rokem

      @@tkpowersports Another question: since motor is in the middle of you ( like the Honda Pioneer - middle and kind of under you) how is the cab heat levels? The Honda is almost unbearable in the summertime. Not an issue when cold out, but like to ride year round!?!

    • @ExRider43
      @ExRider43 Před 11 měsíci

      @@MotoFish45my buddy has a pioneer 5 , it is quieter than my rmax 4 for sure, but his is hotter. Cab seal and overall finish goes to the rmax. I would take his transmission though.

    • @MotoFish45
      @MotoFish45 Před 11 měsíci

      @@ExRider43 My father-in-law has the Honda Pioneer 5. That’s how I know about the heat in the cab. I have a Polaris Ranger 900. Been tossing the idea around about either the RMax or the General. I just don’t like the thought of the drone in the cab and definitely don’t want extra heat in the cabin. But doesn’t sound like that’s an issue with the Yamaha. Maybe I’ll hit up a dealer for a ride in one to see what I think on the noise. Appreciate the response!

    I really wanted to like this video but I found it unwatchable one you got to the sections where you were talking and driving. The audio is terrible and cracking and definitely overloaded whatever you were using to record. Please don’t take this too harshly but just trying to give some honest feedback here.

    • @tkpowersports
      @tkpowersports  Před rokem +3

      That's fair. I've had varied levels of success using this mic setup while riding, and here it wasn't that clear. The RMAX is fairly loud as well, which doesn't help. I'm working on a new solution for future videos. Thanks for the feedback.

    Do the 23s coming with the great transmission clicking sound and the fancy tablet that is extremely outdated and has no use other than gauges

    • @hamdog69
      @hamdog69 Před rokem

      I have asked multiple other videos the same question about the transmission lol doesn’t seem anybody wants to answer that. Yamaha told me it was a characteristic of the rmax. So I’m spreading the word. If you wanna spend almost$ 30000 on a buggy that sounds like someone tossed a washer in the transmission. This is the buggy for you. I’m stuck with mine
