      The hardness and/or softness of your washers have a lot to do with it

      What hammer are you using? A hammer with more mass swung in a controlled manner is what you want. It will let you strike it once. Technically you can get the same strike with a smaller hammer by swinging with more velocity...but if you want the clearest strike more consistently...you want a bigger hammer.
      PS: Try not to use a hardened steel hammer. Hitting a hardened steel punch with a hardened steel hammer is asking for a bad time. Remember, you're going to be doing a lot of strikes...that's more dice rolls of having a bad time. Use a brass non sparking hammer...they are easy to get.

    Great! So, let me get this straight, please. I can restore my private keys on my Ledger Nano S by only using the first 4 letters of each of the 24 words, right? I know that that's what you said but even with my Ledger? Thanks!

      Yes. That's correct. And not just ledger, but other wallets such as trezor and others.
