- Sunset View Elementary school's 5th grade Rugare Marimba Ensemble. These kids travel the Northwest to play for other schools and private groups. Their teacher is amazing and talented and inspiring. He invests a lot of time and care into these students. One of the best experiences our family has had!

Just amazing!! Hats off to this bunch of kids. I just cant express my love and affinity towards marimba music. This by far is the best I have experienced. Its a fabulous job and extremely well Orchestratored and mentored. Three cheers for this awesome piece of music. God bless you all !!
These guys just played at UW. I was having a stressful day of homework and tests and happened to walk by where they were playing. It totally made my day and put a smile on my face! I'm glad there are programs like this, everyone stands something to gain from them!
Such Talent and dedication should be rewarded and applauded loudly, well done I hope all of them still have this feeling for music
These kids are great. I heard them in San Antonio at TMEA. They are amazing.
Walt IS awesome! What an opportunity he gives these kids...He really helps them connect to music and see a future for themselves involving music. We have enjoyed every minute with him and the Marimba group. Happy to see that there are newly inspired marimba groups in your area! Have fun with them!
Really lovely - great work from students and teacher!
I love it, kids are amazing. The bass is awesome
Beautiful, this music deserves way more exposure. I salute you.

Yes! I saw Walt and his kids in Boston. We have 2 new groups in Massachusetts started since he came here. I helped him and parents move the marimbas around. They are awesome! He is too!

Wow!!!! Loved it! Now I wish I had a set of decent marimbas. you can't sound like that on orff :-p
This arrangement is most likely one of Walt's. The African name for this piece is Mbube. There are four different arragements for it in Colleen Hart's books.
Eccellente esecuzione 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome 👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍👈👀🇵🇷
hope those kids are still playing!!!!
Haré Krišna!

i am in canada an would like to start a marimba group, i am zimbabwean! can you tell me what to do, how to do it!
love you
great job
Can you tell me where you got the music arrangement for that?
Awesome...where can I get hold of this sheet music?? Would love to try it with my kids.
+Suzanne Newrick Where do you live? There are lots of marimba groups around the Northwest, especially Portland, in Hood River and/or The Dalles and the northern Olympic Peninsula. Any one of them can probably show you the parts to this as it's pretty standard. If there were sheet music, it would be copyrighted; then wouldn't you have to pay for performing it? Marimba version is also called Mbube.
Where did you find this composition for marimbas?
Where can I learn more about this teacher, this group and this school? I am in Florida.

Does Mr. Hampton still teach marimba in the Seattle area? Woodinville? Any bands looking for a 10-year-old (who hasn't had lessons, but would be interested)?
What was that huge thing in the corner?!?
Where is this school located? Is the marimba program only offered to 5th graders?
Hello. Can you tell me where the marimbas were purchased, or the brand name? I am an elementary music teacher and I recently received grant money to start a marimba ensemble. Thanks.
OMG!
Good job

good stuff no doubt
@tedoex First of all you have to buy a whole bunch of marimbas and just learn some basic notes and you'll be good :) hope i helped
where do you get marimbas from
Simone Epperson l dont know where they can be bought but its an African way of music performed mostly in Zimbabwe and South Africa coz that's where l grew
1:52 I know how it goes
C-D-E-D-E-F-E-D-C-D-E-D-C-E-D
G-D-E-D-G-F-E-D-C-D-E-D-C-E-D
But you have to roll on the notes
For God's sake give this piece of music its real name "MBUBE" in Zulu to us westerners" The Lion Sleeps tonight". Solomon Linda who wrote this never received any royalties for this music in his lifetime because of crooked music promoters, so do not perpetuate the injustice for want of a name.
theyre doing better than us and we're 6, 7, and 8th graders 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The girl in the red pants needs to stop the grooming crap. Scratching, fishing a hair out of her mouth, adjusting her seat, etc. Very undisciplined.
