@@aislynn001 To be perfectly fair and honest, my reference was one person/family and it was definitely the person/family, not the trailer. My perception was very narrow, unfortunately. My bestie and her new husband lived in an old trailer for the first several years of their marriage and it was a really nice neighborhood. It was dated but not a bad area at all. Taught me a lot about books and covers.

I lived in a 12X60 single wide 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom in the 60s and there was six in the family. My sisters and I slept on bunk beds in very tiny bedrooms. My mother and stepfather slept in a bigger bedroom. I felt comfortable living there. My stepfather was in the Navy and we moved the trailer from Florida to South Carolina when he was transferred and then from South Carolina to Rhode Island. I really miss living in it.

I owned a 16X80 modular home in Alberta and it was one of the nicest homes I've ever had. Since they are manufactured in a factory, their specs are amazing for being sealed.

It never ceases to amaze me, just how far single wide mobile homes have come. This unit in particular, meets the needs (imo) of young people, just starting out, seniors, downsizing space and/or expenses and certainly families with one or two incomes. There's a lot of bang in this home, but not a lot of price.

    • @sonyafox3271
      @sonyafox3271 Před rokem +15

Do you really think people on fixed incomes can afford these homes? There’s no way in the world they can, they don’t get that much to live on! It would be a nice reality but, that just isn’t the case, that’s why they have to live in one form or another of government housing! In fact that’s why a lot of Senior Citizens end up losing their homes to begin with, those that still own their home! Then, they certainly are unable to pay a new house payment on top of mortgage, insurance and, not mention all the other starter up cost of needing to pay lot rent and, they have to pay to set up cable and electrical lines, getting things set for water! Then, on top of the regular monthly bills that will cost them quite a bit for awhile! On top of it, if your passed a certain age the fact is the bank won’t give you such a huge loan!

@@robertboone7860 Sorry, Robert, but most seniors aren't just throwing their money around willy nilly. Many have budgeted their income through the years only to watch their savings dwindle down to nothing due to divorce, intermittant loss of incomes, family emergencies, sudden or increasing health problems, or sudden catastrophes such as an auto accident or fire. Or their spouse dies suddenly as one of our friends recently had happen to him.
Also for most of us, our rent, utilities and food costs increase at a much faster rate than the 3% retirement increase the govt "generously" gives back to us every two or three (or four) years.
I'm not saying that there aren't stupid wasteful people who could change their habits for the better but most elderly are between a rock and a hard place income-wise, with hardly any viable option available to them to save $$ so they can live a better life.
Old age definitely isn't for the timid.
So much for "the Golden Years".

@@robertboone7860 sometimes, depends on the area, a home like that will still go for around $100,000 so about a $700-800 month including taxes and fees (depending on your down payment), and lot rent also varies, were i live its $350 a month but many places around me are around $600 a month, so thats around $1000-$1400 a month, not including utilities (add maybe another $150-$200 a month for water/electricity/heat)
this would be mostly affordable for a dual income, or someone making 50-60k a year with no other debt (student loans, car payments). But it still is almost unreachable to those making less than $2000 a month, you would be at minimal wanting to bring home $15/hr, and this also depends on where you live, I live in a really cheap area (low lot rent, low utilities, low costs for food), but live in a bigger city area, or a state that land costs alot more and you would still need to be middle class+ to afford this. and also would need a decent amount of savings for a down payment with my calculations (10,000-20,000)
This is just not within reach of those still paycheck to paycheck or low income (my moms highest income was about $13/hr after moving jobs, previous factory job was $12/hr after 30+ years of working there till they sent it overseas). we lived in an apartment till a mobile home came up on the market for $24000, she used her retirement to put like half down, and i helped as well (was just layed off myself and had student loans and a car payment along with bad credit)
At least i will say used mobile homes are an option for low income, mortgage and lot rent are less than $500 a month for me, although that comes with the fact after my mom passed the mobile home only had $11,000 to pay off. and we have really low lot rent, although this is a park were you have to be 55yr old as the primary lease holder to live here (im grandfathered in).
and while its cheap living here, i make $60k a year, i still have problems saving, as soon as i try something always breaks, (just replaced the water heater, wiping out my savings, which was wiped out by getting a car after my previous one broke - any time i save im one emergancy away from wiping that savings, heck just got $1200 for someone hitting my car, and $800 went away right off the bat for a CT scan for some of my medical problems that came up recently)

I have never been a fan of trailer homes, but this one is really making me second-guess that bias. It is laid out very well and is so clean, elegant, and very open. Doesn't feel tiny at all, even in the small bedrooms. I like that in most rooms they don't have the vertical strips between the drywall panels. They just serve as a constant reminder you're in a cheaper built space, so I'm glad they did away with most of them.

I really love this layout!! It’s nice to see the industry changing floor plans for singlewides. Young families I feel will like this floor plan because it keeps their young children closer to them. I remember when I was a young single mother it bothered me being so far away from my children so they stayed in my master with me (they were 18mo & newborn). Even if I had still been married to their father I would have done the same thing. I’m hoping there are more women designing single & doublewide homes. There are a lot of different perspectives women have that men might not think about.

I agree, a closed laundry helps keep laundry enclosed and out of the sight of guests, not to mention having to walk over/past dirty laundry for guests to get to the main bathroom. This is generally what happens when there’s children/teens, even, laundry winds up thrown on the floor and trampled over in these scenarios. I’m really disappointed they didn’t also take this opportunity to combine the laundry and bath, putting the back door in the laundry/bathroom to use as a mud room for children coming in from the “backyard” too. It just seems like there’s wasted space there at the laundry/back door/entry to bathroom.🫤

Stack the w/d. Then there would be a space for a one seat bench w/ storage below. Or, somehow make a recessed area in the hall for seating near that back door, for a reading/mudroom bench. Water heater can be one to hang on the wall, gaining extra space. Doesn't seem like it would be too much extra to do a double vanity in the master bath. Put a barn door on the master bath.

Lots of window, lots of storage, classy fixtures ... there is no reason that living on a budget means living in squalor. Very nice.

OMG Trailers are so amazing. I know a guy who is 57 and lives in one with his mother he's a straight boss. He almost knows how to play guitar kinda sorta. As some would say it takes a friendly village to raise a kid and the most amazing trailer to raise them in.

The master bathroom would be complete for me if they had actually gone a bit further and in the big blank space beside the vanity where the bench is and Pictures on the wall that they really got with it and installed a double wide linen cupboard.

Nice home. The only changes I would make would be to eliminate the built in kitchen table so I could have a free standing dining set and I would combine the two smaller secondary bedrooms into one good sized second bedroom.

Thanks for the tour. Two 8 x 10 "bedrooms" would make a nice bedroom. But I think a queen sized bed would more than fill either one of them.

Great looking single wide mobile home! I like the attention to design of walls, sinks, and windows. This mobile home looks more like a stick built home with modern upgrades! It reminds me of a time back in the 80's and 90's when i saw Fleetwoods mobile homes that really stood out with unique interior designs. That time is long gone, and today i don't see Fleetwoods with that type of detailed design anymore. However, it now seems Champion homes has started designing their single wide mobile homes with their own unique interior designs that make their mobile home stand out from other brands of manufactured homes. Very impressive Champion homes, very impressive!!! 😊❤
