The common theme is of an older car of historical interest to be collectible and tend to be restored rather than scrapped. Classic cars are a subset of a broader category of "collector cars" (which includes both restored classic cars vehicles and newer exotic vehicles). The best part of being a teenager in the 60s and 70s is these cars were cheap, and a used Cadillac was a bargain!!!!2022

Awesome lineup here. The first Oldsmobiles are 1952s. The 1955 Plymouths were the first with a V-8 which was long overdue!! Plus they finally got away from the old semi-automatic transmissions (only 7000 1954 models had the fully automatics) that Mopars had for years. The '58 Cadillac at 13:10 doesn't look as good as the '57 but it's still beautiful. Regardless of what the commercial said, air suspension was a complete failure and many owners had it replaced with conventional suspension. The recession devastated the '58 DeSotos (only 474 of those Fireflite convertibles were built) and the make died a sad death in Dec, 1960 after a small number of 1961's were built. The '68 Dodge Charger's legacy was forever cemented due to it's inclusion in "Bullitt". WOW I didn't know Roger Moore's kid made a commercial (never saw that one!) and in James Bond style too!

Yeah, the rickshaws became popular 30 years later, but only because the camel jockys and our own mismanaged economy made fuel so expensive
