  • I am a big fan of the floor press. Here’s why ⤵️
    1️⃣ When people have pain doing bench presses or push-ups, this will often limit their desire to press, but in this floor press, we can get them under some load and return to pressing earlier.
    2️⃣ There’s no need for a rack, which means you can initiate a lot of good pressing mechanics at home without needing access to larger pieces of equipment.
    3️⃣ In bench pressing, you can get potentially forced into positions where you don’t have enough ROM. Benching requires normative shoulder extension and internal rotation of the shoulder joint.
    So, if you are missing those things, the shoulder can potentially translate forward, which can be a real driver of dysfunction and pain in the front of the shoulder. ⤵️
    Floor pressing can limit these range of motion demands by reducing potential compensation in the movement.
    BUT with heavy floor presses, you get a lot of bang for your buck in terms of pressing.
