Last year ND played like junk against a Group of 5 team, and got beat by Marshall. This year ND played like junk against a Group of 5, and won 41-17…. that’s improvement
Wouldn't call out moving your opponent by over 300 yards "playing like junk"
Too many penalties, but they had a meh first half and then did what a great team is supposed to do, step on their opponents throat and say, that's enough of that."
Number 7 looks like a Heisman contender, and Hartman does as well.
Next week is a big test for us. Can't afford 8 penalties against the Buckeyes.

@@snerdterguson agreed. This year’s team has the ability to go up against the best and can win. You’re absolutely right that 8 penalties against a team like OSU will not win the ballgame. Excited for next Saturday, it’s going to be a good one!
The QB situation has been all the difference in the world. Last year ND had 2 inexperienced essentially 1st year starters learning on the job. And it didn't help that the starter didn't last more than 1 game. This year we have an experienced starter in his SIXTH college year, a 24 year old man instead of a wet behind the ears kid. Also the secondary looks much improved and they are finishing games. None of this means squat if we don't beat Ohio St. This game determines if ND is a realistic NC contender or not.
Number seven is the best running back in college football this year
Audric Estime is on a "new level" (Pantera). To be that big, with that awareness, speed and agility, is absolutely ridiculous. I respect the RB ball sharing 😂, but Estime needs the rock. He's a game changer.

Estime will get his yards, provided the O-line opens a few lanes for him.
But in my opinion, the next 2 games (Ohio St & Duke) all hinges on the play of the Defensive Front 7.
Unfortunately, that has been one of ND's biggest weaknesses against top tier competition in the past Decade.
If they can't get consistent pressure AND keep their running game in check, then this won't be pretty.
If, on the other hand they are able to get pressure on the QB and shut down the run game, then Notre Dame should win handily.
If ND can just hold the running game in check, then I could see them winning by 10-14 points.

The Defense cant just key on one or two Players.

Estime is the new Jerome Bettis. With HARTMAN we have a quarterback that can fire from anywhere. Our line on offense is POWERFUL and the Defense is top 10. But...what I see is a FIRE in their eyes that has been missing for 30 years. With the player portal...we can now go out and find players that can fit what we need. We are top 5 material, and we MUST prove it against OSU this next week.
The offensive line played a bad game they let Hartman get popped too many times and in the second half his leg contorted back like Gumby

Gonna take more than a balanced offense to beat Ohio State, and our D is not very good. We can't pressure anybody without bringing at least six rushers on a blitz, completely exposing our terrible pass coverage. We're not going to look very good against Ohio State next weekend, and I can only hope I'm wrong with my observations...

@@PaperRaines They didn't look "very good" against them last year with a lesser quality of a team everywhere and that quitter Tyler Buchner at QB. They be awright. And OSU sure doesn't look much stronger compared to last year either
@@irishron4861 I'd feel better about our chances if we still had Buchner at quarterback and Rees calling plays. Yes, they both looked like trash yesterday at Alabama against South Florida, that's looking like square pegs trying to jam into round holes. The bowl game against South Carolina was going to be a very bright future with Buchner leading an unstoppable Run-Pass Option, but now we're here with a pure pocket passer in Hartman in a pro-style vanilla offense, with a weak offensive line. He's not going to have two seconds to get through progressions, he's going to be running for his life next weekend

Amazing you play like 3 seconds of footage from a a big touchdown. After all that I'd think we would like to see a little bit of the full celebration from the end zone to the sidelines, music and all.

I couldn't see the game yesterday because I don't have Peacock, so I figured I'd watch the extended highlights. I'm glad ND won, but you kept cutting the points Central Michigan got. I was hoping to see each score from both sides, like extended highlights usually show. Irish played great though 👍

I said exactly the same thing. I refuse to subscribe to Peacock. Hope the ratings were lousy so they go back to doing what they're supposed to do>>show the game on Network television for "free" (you still have advertisers) to as many ND supporters as possible.

Next week is gonna be our real test, the run defense was slacking a little and if that doesn’t sharpen up we will struggle with Ohio state.
I suspect Ohio State is going to run past, around, and straight through our defense like wet toilet paper. I can hope for better, but I don't suspect my eyes have been lying to me the past four games

For those of us who refuse to be forced by NBC to pay for Peacock, and thus didn't get to see the game, can you please at least show the TD scores by the other team in these hilites? And what has Ohio State done this year to warrant them being too good for ND to beat? From what I’ve seen they have struggled to figure out the QB position and have played lackluster against teams like Indiana and Youngstown State, them crushing Western Kentucky doesn’t impress me it’s a victory with about as much difficulty as ND’s win vs Tennessee State. Nothing OSU has done shows them to be unbeatable especially when their QB’s play an actual defense and their defense plays a competent offense, I have great confidence in ND to pull out a victory especially with home field advantage

I grant you it's at least heartening that this year we're not losing to the Marshall's of the world, we're winning the games. But if we're letting teams like Central Michigan, Navy, and Tennessee State hang with us for nearly the entire games, what are we going to do against teams with 5-Star talents up and down their rosters?
Hint: we already got a preview of that last week. Our only game against a Power-5 opponent and it was a nail-bitter until a late pull-away
