God has been with me in the ups and downs of life and calls me each morning and throughout the day to come and spend time with Him. I need to trust Him more as I look at our country in these hard times and remember the country where I truly belong--called heaven. These hymns strengthen my prayer time. I feel closer to the Lord and wonder at all the beautiful things he made on this earth. I beg that he forgives us for the harm we do to this world of ours!
## Thought: They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." (Jeremiah 17:8)
I moved a couple of plants in our yard the other day. Someone mentioned that the trauma of digging a plant up this late in the year could kill them if I did not get enough of the roots. This got me thinking of (Jerimiah 17:8). We do not know when trauma is coming into our lives. When it does, are our roots strong enough in the Lord to handle the trauma no matter when or how it happens?
Friends, when storms come in our lives, we can steer clear of fear, stay green when life gets mean, not have bouts of doubt in the drought and share the spirit rather than throw a fit? Are our roots deeply rooted in Christ?

I've suffered for the past 10 years from constant chronic allergies, sinusitis, tinnitus, Eutachian tube dysfunction, and frequent night urination, which cause me to have chronic insomnia, sleep deprivation, panic attacks and fatigue. I won't mention the bad stuff...
Many as Jeremiah had to endure suffering and show they were worthy and grounded in the saving roots of the Lord, to fulfill the plans of God.
My fav Pastor Adrian Rogers once said, "The most miserable person in the world, is a believer out of fellowship with God."
Sadly, some old goats like me, are stiff necked and obstinate, and can't seem to totally let go of this world, and steadfastly grab hold of and root ourselves into the Living Water and Rock of Ages.
Imo, God's destiny for some is not to be happier in this world, but holier, and eternally happier in the next.
Imo, God chastens and allows some to suffer the baptism of fire. Hebrews 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? Praise be...as the great Hymn goes...It Is Well With My Soul.
I pray and would appreciate any prayer...that I will completely turn to God, draw nearer to Him, and allow my roots to cling to His Righteous Love, Wisdom, Strength, Mercy and Grace, and help me attain my ministerial destiny and get His music out to the world. Be Blessed, and may All Glory be to God!

davekanak Dave, I didn’t learn about Dr. Adrian Rogers until I moved to El Salvador, my husband’s home. I watched Dr. Rogers’ amazing lessons on TV. each week, I think. I had been living in Memphis for several years without ever hearing about him. I learned a friend of mine from the same college, Southwestern, went to his church in Memphis. I used to get Back to the Bible with Dr. J. Vernon McGee on the radio here, too. I now watch Tim Keller, a Presbyterian, but a man who teaches right from the Bible like Dr. Rogers did. I will pray for you. I heard Martin Luther King preach once in Memphis and we sang the song, “Like a tree planted by the water, we shall overcome.” He would not approve of the violence in the cities. I marched with him once but there was only one young man who broke the window of a store on my right. He had not been in the original group. It was right before Dr. King was murdered.
