Iâm 61, take my old camera with me probably all the time.
I happened upon your channel and I thank you for your content.
I at times get criticised bc I take photos of sand, dirt, items on the ground nature or not.
So many things I see differently others find funny đ€·đœââïž
Regardless, your content is great and I appreciate you đđœ
Glad you became more "grounded" in your photography, Kim. The connection is not just visual when you really take time to look at where you are. It is healing. Great images!
Thank you :)
When your music is almost as good as your photography... all the feels Kim. Well done.
I have just come across this video and instantly recognised your location here. I have spent many summers on this beach and you have reminded me, that I have taken some gorgeous sunset photos here in the past.
I used to be right into going out with the camera, however not so much anymore and I'm at the stage of giving up with it. But I must say, seeing this scenery again and your interesting take on something so simple, has given me some inspiration.
I would just like to say, thank you for this! đđ
Focus stacking is something Iâm definitely trying more tooâŠthat shot was awesome! đžđ
Thank you Jason!
Hi Kim, New to your channel & I must say it's a lovely change to the normal photo blogger channels, you discuss how you feel at the time of your video, detailing how sometimes it's ok to be less than enthusiastic as well as being super excited, this is a true reflection of our mental health just now.
I have been an avid amateur photographer since purchasing my first SLR camera back in 1981 then moving to medium format then back to SLR before joining the digital age with my DSLR. which created a new found love of photography, no longer worrying about only having 36 exposure film or slides with my SLR or 10 or 8 shots with medium format roll films.
Keep up the good work Kim with true to life vlogs. Kindest regards Phil.
That focus stacked low angle tripod image is awesome !! Gonna have to try that myself đ
I love how you find beautiful images where others find nothing. You got some great stuff! Thanks for posting.
I usually hate when people post edit too much but the way you use it, is truly lovely. You have given me a boost of inspiration, a boost of support I desperately needed.
Thank you so much đ
I haven't done a lot of macro photography, but focus stacking is definitely useful for that. I never thought of extending it's use to landscape photography, usually relying on a small aperture to keep everything in focus.
Most people think of a cloudless sky to be a perfect sky, but not photographers! I much prefer living in Scotland with clouds making every shot different, to a featureless blue void.
I enjoyed your comment about clouds. I visited Scotland (I live in Oregon, US) when I was 18 years old. I am now 70. My great grandfather was born in the small town of New Deer. It rained buckets every day for the 2 weeks I was in your beautiful country - and I loved every day I was there. I remember the rock walls that served as pasture boundaries. I was mesmerized by the miles and miles of rock walls. Best to you and yours! Jim in Oregon
Hello Jim
Glad you enjoyed visiting Scotland. We call the rock walls 'drystane dykes'. Unfortunately, they're gradually dusappearing as farmers put fences up by them and don't repair falls, which must be a pretty labour intensive task.
Agreed! I live in Midlothian.
You don't have to live in place where the weather is miserable to have clouds
well said ... "a featureless blue" sky is 'perfect' only when we want a totally clear blue sky in our image for whatever the reason ... otherwise, half-cloudy skies with that ever changing light and shadows, although making it a little too hard for getting the right exposure at times, it allows for a lot more different and beautiful shots actually ... timelapse videos also work great only under half-cloudy skies, especially when they are moving a little faster than normal ...
What a beautiful landscape!! And your images are stunning. Thank you for sharing your images and your in the field flow.
Love how you do, spek and feel, great person. Love from Switzerland.
Another super video, Kim, with a valuable message to get out whatever the weather.
I had similar experience yesterday going out into the Lakes under a clear blue sky - I didnât see anyone else with a camera, probably because a clear sky doesnât typically lend itself to dramatic or moody landscapes. It made me focus on what was there, though, and I ended up with a few images Iâm really happy and which are a little different from the norm!
Great to hear this Martin. There's always opportunities, no matter what the weather. Sounds like you had a lovely day out đ
Thanks for this Kim, it's good to be reminded that there is no such thing as a failed shot, just another opportunity to learn something, had really fallen out of love with photography until recently by forgetting that and being so harsh with my images that it wasn't fun anymore
Beautiful I love the different sand textures..great ideas to try next time thank you Kim
This completely changed my thoughts about clear blue sky photography. Most people prefer to have a cloudy sky when taking pictures, and I was one of them. I will experiment more. Thank you
Thanks for this video, and excellent pictures!
Liked! Wonderful presentation. I especially appreciate how you worked with a beach, without using clouds or permanent terrain features, to be so very creative. Here on the upper Gulf Coast, of Texas, where flat coastal plain meets sandy and muddy beaches, there are no significant dunes, no tall trees, no rocks, and a minimal tidal range, but you have shown how to creative something so significant, with such simple, low terrain features. Thanks!
Perfect to wake up to on a Sunday morning...........đ
Fantastic images as usual , Kim. Thank you for sharing your focus stacking technique.
I love that focus stacking technique. It seems so obvious and so much easier than the faff of doing in the camera
Awesome images and video Kim. I'm with you, you can always find something to shoot. Thank you for taking us along.
Angel voiced Kim comes back with another great video. I must admit, even though my stuff (mostly) is weather sealed I find that I am very cautious when the weather is less than perfect. I really must be more inclined to get out there when the weather is more inclement . Thank you for all your videos, they're brilliant.
I recently moved to using a compact digital camera and one thing I like about it vs. interchangeable lens camera is the wide depth of field, which is great for landscape pictures.
Lovely to hear you comment on looking deeper. Such mindful skill to experience the world and make photographs
Your focus stacked images are stunning! Thanks for taking me along!
A wonderful informative video Kim, I love how you see beauty in the simplest forms nature throws up and use your creativity to capture some great shots, I felt like I was there watching the sunset with you. Thanks!
Capturing the light off of those mini-sand-formations was genius. The pictures turned out great.
- The technique of focus-stacking for the sunset composite image was for me, a learning experience. Thanks.
Absolutely love the focus stacked image â€
Thanks for sharing your focus stacking technique and the wonderful results. Your photographic session was full of fantastic images. Great work!
Thank you for the kind words Michael. Glad you enjoyed it đ
Loved it Kim, thanks for taking us along.
Beautiful images Kim especially the abstract work. Many thanks
Enjoyed the video as usual Kim.
You captured some really nice image's as usual.
The image that you photo stacked was brilliant.
Look forward to the next one.
Take care.
Good morning Kim, starting out my sunday is always better with your video. Your tips and ideas are always helpful and add to my knowledge of photography. There is no limit to what one can do or learn in the outdoors, it literally changes by the second, we are only limited by our imagination. I said it before, my "peace" is in the outdoors. Your a joy to watch, have a blessed week.
Thank you! Wishing you a blessed week too :)
Kim Great tips and thank you for sharing
First time visiting your channel, subscribed.
Like this type photography finding beautiful shapes and form and isolating them from the grand landscape.
A tilt and shift lens (using tilt) its perfect for this sort of flat plane photography where everything needs to be in focus.
Getting back into photography after a 7 year hiatus due to family issues.
This sort of video is very encouraging.
Great video and inspiring as always. The images were brilliant. I'm going to give focus stacking a try for sure now â€
Great advice Kim and some that should inspire to go out, just because you should. On the focus stacking I watched a macro photographer take 80 plus images using stacking the auto feature. Subject was a flower and blimey it was sharp. đđŒ
Love the focus stacked sunset, Iâll have to give that method a try
Hi Kim, wow such beautiful light , what a stunning evening! Love the images! ( & especially the focus stacked blended image đ ) Loving the orange glow! X
Hi Debbie and thank you very much! It was such a beautiful evening indeed
Great video Kim really like thefocus stacked image and the abstracts at the end of your day đ
Thanks for your content on this video and for the inspiration given!
Some amazing shots! Beautiful day and adventure
You live in a beautiful place, Kim. Just to be there must be so therapeutic. I really love your images. I haven't done any focus stacking but I must give it a try. Always something new to learn.
It is so beautiful Mary! I can't wait to move back here full time. Thank you very much. Do enjoy trying out focus stacking
Simply wonderful! Such a great opportunity to practice grounding out there. Thanks for bringing us along. I am going to be looking for a camera that will do the in body focus stacking. I should be upgrading soon. I look forward to seeing you again next Sunday.
Kim I haven't watched in ages due to the fact I had emergency surgery on my spine I can't get out with my camera which gets me down đą my favourite was the focus stacked sunset it was absolutely stunning, this tutorial gave me an uplift thank you keep up the great work â€đ
I'm sorry to hear this May. Wishing you well and a speedy recovery. Sincerely hope you're able to get out with your camera again in the near future â€ïž
I have been a commercial photographer for 47 years. I have learned to have one tripod that I only use in sandy/dirty type locations. Sand gets into everything dealing with the tripod legs. It is just about impossible to get the sand out. I also have one tripod that I use for everything else on location and one heavy tripod I use in the studio.
I always enjoy your videos Kim but I woke up about 3:00 am (Mississippi, USA) time and saw you just posted this video. I laid in my bed and watched the entire video! OMG! This is one of your best. The whole video from beginning to end... the music, the photography, the video itself and your magical words are all so inspiring. I just wanted to say thank you for always inspiring us to pick up our cameras and shoot no matter our area, the weather, our mood. Peace!
This is such a beautiful comment Donna! Thank you so very much for watching all the way through at such an early hour of the day. Really does mean a lot :)
@@kimgrantphotography Truthfully Kim... I'm a CPA who has been working 7 days a week since just COVID. Your videos have helped get me through a most difficult period. I have now watched this particular video four times! Thank you for your content. You will probably never know how you have touched so many people. Hugs.
Another awesome video and beautiful images Kim!!
Thank you, enjoyed hearing about your describing your thoughts about what you were seeing. Beautiful shots.
Nice! The small field of stones behind you looks like a fine subject too : )
And yet another amazing video. Thank you Kim.
Thank you, Kim. Such wonderful images, and you explained your thoughts for the compositions so well, including where the compositions didn't work for you, which is just as helpful for someone like me. In a happy coincidence, I head for the coast in a few weeks, so I'll see how I go with the lessons you delivered.
Enjoy your trip to the coast âșïž
Beautiful Work, Thanks for your Time !!
Great pictures, Kim. It's always interesting to see photographers on their journey. Abstract photography can yield stunning results. Enjoy your photography, I know I do. Cheers and subscribed.
Hello from Canada, great shots. I'm definitely going to try the focus stacking , the results are stunning.
Have a awesome day !
soo nice, and relaxing too watch, well done !
Absolutely stunning images, love your videos
with focus stacking your expensive dslr/mirrorless now finally produces smartphone level output!
I have used this for years in southern Utah, I rarely take a landscape picture anymore without using it.
Thank you, Kim. You got me inspired to do some focus stacking too by the sea.
Brilliant Kerstin! Enjoy!
Thanks for a great video Kim, it looks a beautiful location with those woods you walked through to get there. I wasn't expecting you to say the focus stacking was the thing you wished had done more of. I like the story of the footprint I had a similar experience and have posted on the community page đđ
Glad you enjoyed it Brian! There's been so many situations in the past that I haven't done focus stacking and ended up with images I wasn't completely satisfied with. There's so many cases where I'm glad I didn't use it too but it's great to be open to it now and have the choice depending on what emotion and feelings I want to portray in the images đ
Excellent video!! Never thought about what you just accomplished. I live in Montana, USA so we have no beaches. However I think I might be able apply this on some rivers. Beautiful shots that you ended up with!!
Hi Kim, I've just discovered you today on CZcams. I agree with you, in photography as on many other aspect of life, "there are no things like mistakes, all they're opportunities of learning". Thank you for your video and your words.
Thank you very much!
Very nice Kim, I going to try more of the focus stacking my self. Thanks for the great ideas.
Thanks Jeffrey! Enjoy!
Stunning images and food for thought for me especially regarding lighting, thank you :) X
Thank you, I like your attitude to photography.
The certainly was stunningâŠ.focus stacking is something I often think about after I get homeâŠ..dang why didnât I stack this. Thank you for reminding me to experiment more!đ
Very impressive. Amazing photos!! Well done!
I love footprints in the sand as long as some of them are mine! yes that's a wonderful part of the world where you are enjoy every minute of it.....Thank you for taking us there!
Fantastic landscape!!
Beautiful capture đž
Sehr inspirierend. Wunderschön.
Excellent video, Kim. Thanks for the suggestions.
Really enjoyed this video. Iâm definitely going to give focus stacking a try, your resulting image was just stunning
Thanks again for sharing
Andy
So glad you enjoyed it Andy! Enjoy trying out Fuchs stacking đ
Great video! As a timelapse photogorapher, clear skies are always a pain, good to see you making good use of them though.
Just discovered your channel and subscribed for more videos. Great job, stunning beach images and beautiful music!! Thank you
Thank you Tom and welcome
Amazing video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
One of your best, Kim!
Thank you for a great video and the inspiration to try something new (photo stacking). Living on the West coast of Scotland we get some amazing sunsets and I will definitely be looking at the beach/sky differently.
You certainly do get amazing sunsets! Enjoy trying out focus stacking :)
Great images and also very good commentary. And I for one truly love your Scottish accent!!!
Your videos are amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic! Keep it up! You help inspire!!!
Enjoyed this very much. I have found that if you wrap your tripod legs with plastic bags they are a lot easier to clean up after being in the sand.
The little ripples or bumps caught my eye right off the bat. One trait of a good photographer is being able to adapt to conditions or what nature presents. Great photo!!! What camera do you use?
love your vision
You are perfectly right. It's all about seeing the opportunities.
Great photographic philosophy in your closing. Maybe a video on your photo stacking post processing technique. Keep up the great work!
Stunning photography, thanks for sharing your tips! I also love abstract photos, I think beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. :). Cheers
The lens living on my D800 is the PC-E Nikkor f:2.8/85 mm for several reasons. Getting a flat beach into focus front to back would have been a textbook example for a Scheimpflug tilt ... I don't use that technique all that often (I'm more team selective focus), but it has come in handy at times.
Beautiful images and great information. Thank you.
A beautiful video, your fantastic story telling voice ⊠âșïž
Seriously inspired! Will revisit soonđ€
To me your best image was the one you manually focus stacked, using the creek leading to the sea with the sunset sun reflection. Awesome. Yes, in body camera focus stacking is a wonderful thing.
Thanks Kim. DId some very similar shots down on the Solway coast recently. Lovely images. Subscribed.
That photo at 7:50 is stunning!
Your photos are amazing!!! I live in San Francisco and want to try your techniques along the coast. Thank you
Unlimited beautiful opportunities to enjoy Nature: Sea, Sand and Sun.
Beautiful images
