    And when the FBI comes and breaks down my door I know how to make flashbangs, properly shoot a gun, how to make smoke bombs, and make gase masks.
    And then when I'm eventaly thrown into prison I know how to make prison wine, armor, and several different types of weapons and then when those weapons break or I loose them, I know how to take some one down then properly choke them.

  • @snickelman
    @snickelman Před 7 lety +224

    That first grip he showcased can be very effective, but you have to have the right technique:
    He puts his left arm on top of Brian's head, which accomplishes nothing. Instead, you're supposed to put it BEHIND the head, and push forward, hunce pushing the chin of the victim down, and as per Newton's third law of motion, the head is forced up, putting strain on the neck (kind of like a hanging man, where the noose pulls his head upwards).
    Now, this effect is small, but it is there.
    Second thing:
    You have to make sure that you have your elbow crease right infront of the windpipe, this may sound counterintuative, since it gives air free passage through the pipe (the windpipe is not so compressed with this technique.)
    When you have secured the right position of the elbow crease, you squeeze, and you tension your bicep as much as possible. This cuts off the flow of blood to the brain via the two jugular veins in the victim's throat. The pushing forward of the left hand's primary purpose is to push the throat into this "V" shape formed by the right arm, to cut off the flow of oxygenated blood to the brain, knocking you out in a time somewhat proportional to your current oxygen consumation (which would be very high in a fight, and hence, knock you out very fast.)

      @ericsynatschk5459 Před 6 lety +76

      From a judoka to someone who clearly knows what they're talking about, that's exactly right. The "gable grip" is a control technique. A proper rear-naked-choke is multiple times more efficient. Puts them to sleep in three to five seconds, and I can attest to that.

    • @fettaspalta3127
      @fettaspalta3127 Před 6 lety +46

      Thank you! His choke is an air choke, a proper rear naked choke as described by you is an arterial choke. No fresh blood to the brain equals losing conciousness. Choking a person out using air takes as long as they can hold their breath. Good in a match but way waaaay worse in a self defense situation.

    I disagree with that part when he says that the choke in wich you hold your bicep is less effective, when done right it is actually the most effective one.
    When you choke using the forearm it does hurt more but it actually doesn't choke as fast (if at all) as the ''classical'' one, it works great when you are trying to tap your training partners, but if for some reason you have to put someone to sleep you will be less effective.
    The guy, as a black belt, should know that the arm in wich the bicep is held (left arm in case of a right handed choke) is supposed to sit BEHIND the head of the opponent, not ABOVE. After that, you use your head and left arm to push foward while trying to bring your right arm closer to your own throat .

      The rnc is a pulling choke and is best applied on the ground when you gain back control. Its easily defensible by simply tucking the chin into the space in the inside of the elbow of the person doing the choke.

    • @willianyano8596
      @willianyano8596 Před 5 lety +2

      @@joshuaburgess4158 nope , tucking the chin will not prevent the choke, what would happen (unless the person trying to apply it is way too weak) is that the chin will be pushed back resulting in the choke or even the dislocation of it (not that i've seen that last one personally).
      You can defend from it effectively by not letting your opponent get both arms together, simply hold one of his arms with yours and put one of your arms in the way (gotta be fast), after that you will have to turn your body to the side (not easy) so you can free yourself, and if you were on the ground you would have to, somehow, get rid of both ''hooks'' on your legs firstly and then turn .

      Yea, as a jujitsu practitioner I can tell you that a properly applied blood choke takes about 3-6 seconds to make a person black out. An air choke on the other hand is very painful but in the heat of a fight where adrenaline and anger is involved I NEVER want to rely on pain to stop an assailant, I want to completely incapacitate them. An air choke will take as long as it takes for them to suffocate, maybe as much as 30-60 seconds.

      To be honest all this is kinda meaningless unless you train a lot because in the heat of a fight you aren't going to be making a choice about which one to use, training will kick in and you will choke them somehow and move on. Whatever works to keep you alive is what you should do

    English longbow men were so good at killing French infantry that the French declared that all captured longbow men were to have both their index and middle fingers cut off so they could no longer nock an arrow. When the English discovered this, they would show the French the two fingers to let them know they still had them as an insult. It was so effective, that people began using the gesture on everyone they disliked. We Americans took a short cut and only gesture with the middle finger. Rogues, teach us how to shoot bows and crossbows or make one from common stuff!

      Yes, it's possibly not true since there is no evidence to support it and longbow men actually need three fingers to nock an arrow. But, the V gesture is only seen as offensive in the history of English and Welsh cultures which lends credit to the legend. And, I believe historically, documenting offensive gestures wasn't a proper area of study for gentlemen and scholars. Lack of evidence is not proof of a counter theory. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_sign

    • @TheQue5tion
      @TheQue5tion Před 7 lety +15

      As a five foot female you actually have the height advantage in a street fight. If you learn a system with emphasis on body mechanics (remember how they could feel each others intent on the sword episode, basically that) then you'll be golden. Not only can you deliver more power in a strike from a shorter range, meaning you can get close and inside someones reach and still hit hard, but you also have a lower centre of gravity, making it easier to off balance bigger people like how Brian off balanced Jason almost immediately. Speaking from experience, when I first joined the gym I go to, an eleven year old girl stood with a fist raised, while a 6'3" man weighing 19 stone put all his weight onto it. She was not only relaxed, but giggling at him. My instructor is much shorter and weaker than me (I'm 6'2") but fighting him is like attacking a statue or being hit with a tornado.

    • @SmigGames
      @SmigGames Před 7 lety +22

      Totally disagree. There are few natural advantages as significant as a height/reach advantage, but that's why martial arts are so important, it's because you can bridge that gap with skill.

    • @TheQue5tion
      @TheQue5tion Před 7 lety

      Oh you can definitely overcome those disadvantages with proper training (by which I mean a system that has live drills, light sparring and realistic movement, as opposed to the punch the air and dead drills where you leave your fist out for a counter McDojos), but I was talking about a fight with an average untrained person. Your average short person I can easily deal with using size and strength, but someone well trained can use my height and weight against me. Equally, I've had to learn how to protect and move around my centre line, and also how to create distance and "give up" an arm sometimes to do that. One advantage of a long reach is if you know how to, then you can use someone grabbing your arm to give you distance.

    • @amartailor8350
      @amartailor8350 Před 7 lety +2

      As a short guy, being short is not really an advantage in a fight. You can hit with closer to your full power at a short distance, but chances are, especially if you're light, you're not going to be hitting with huge amounts of power at that distance. For reference, have done much full contact sparring with and without strikes.

    My big argument with this is if you're using this for self-defense you're going to be crashing someone's windpipe so either you're going to kill somebody or you're going to let go and the person still going to be really pissed verse if you do the rear naked choke correctly and cut off the two carotid artery's they'll go to sleep because of lack of blood flow let go after their asleep and run away you're good for about 10 seconds

    • @fartninja77
      @fartninja77 Před 7 lety +1

      I don't think that the choke is collapsing the windpipe, but rather closing the airflow. And while I agree with the fact that you're probably not going to see somebody pull this off if another party instigates a situation requiring self defense, the issue with the choke itself being ineffective shouldn't be an issue. A choke pulled off correctly would give way more than a 10 second window, blood choke or not, especially in Gracie Jiu Jitsu.

      @theundead1600 Před 5 lety

      Theres another version of th his ratchet choke. Lots of people I have trained with call it a short choke. You do the ratchet but get your elbow inline with the opponents chin just like the rear naked. This guy has some little details though.
      If I end up choking someone it's because I had no choice. I train to do blood chokes first. Air chokes seem to happen when you have less control. But in only a blue belt so. I'm no expert.

Its a blood choke bicep cuts off carotid on one side and forearm cuts it off on the other side, furthermore the hand not doing the choke doesn't simply rest on top of the head but should be pushing the back of the head into the choke... Super effective... within 6 seconds.

      Meh, its a little bit of blood joke going on there too. Could just be me but I have a better success rate with the short choke than full rear naked. It could be because my arms are very long and its easier for guys to defend the rear naked or other factors such as my limited experience but the gable grip choke presents itself many times where rear naked just isn't there for me. Maybe that was his point.

Well then, what is your theory as to how the universe was created and if you subscribe to the big bang, where do you think the elements, no matter how small or compressed they may have been, came from? You got the answers as to whether God exists or not so surely you got something better in mind to help us normies cope with this shit show happening on Earth?
      I was a determined and unmovable atheists until I became suicidal and felt so empty from the raw deals life brings us that I was ready to check out and in my desperation I cried out to my father in Heaven as I perceived him and found comfort to carry on. I know for a fact I am stupid and I am not saying I am a born again Christian but I would like to hear your guys theory, what gives your life purpose?
      If there is no God, you are the final judge and jury on what is right, wrong, or necessary. What gives you motivation to get out of bed assuming we are senseless animals with no direction, no soul, no place, and no future beyond our mortal coil? I am only going by what you say, that there is no God, so I would like to hear what's your alternatives? Seriously, maybe you can talk some sense into me. In your opinion, what is the origin of the universe and how are you positive that "God" can not exists in this infinite celestial sandbox? Thanks in advance.

    I love how the modern rogue went to a bjj club for what is essentially a judo lesson, and the instructor got it wrong - when using the hand in the elbow method your other hand should go behind theiy head, essentially creating a guillotine, not on top of his head. The reason the coach thinks its weaker is because he was doing it wrong. Furthermore going deeper round makes it a strangulation (on the arteries) rather than a choke. Strangulations are far quicker as they prevent blood going to the head. The hand behind the head method is more efficient and much quicker.
