Thàt time she didn't introduce anything new to me, however, this is by far the best nutsy boltsy practical application of the (wo)manufacture of sound that still sounds like advice from your hommie in the garage or studio. It brings me back a few decades. ❤

When using mics, figure 8 and hypercardioid pattern mics are beneficial in places like home recording as they focus in on the sound right in front of the mic. You can also more easily deaden the sound behind by facing curtains, hung sheets/duvet. And angle your body so you're not directly facing a wall but more diagonal.

She hasn't, she played for a very long time a harmony bobkat from the 60's and bought it for like 200 dollars. She made those guitars really popular and are now way more expensive and a couple of years ago they even made re-issues.

Sound bounces off smooth, flat, hard surfaces like walls. To prevent the sound from bouncing, you need uneven, bumby, soft surfaces to line your walls. A carpet on your floor is a good start, curtains on your windows that go up to the floor, you can pad the walls with some sort of padding

Hi Annie...don't know if you're actually going to see this or not...but I hear you talking about a "live" room vs a "dead" room...I just did this cover of Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street, and the room I did it in was a really "live" small room...it came out "ok" I guess as far as the recording turned out, but in hindsight, I think it would have turned out way better if I would have just done it as I usually do, which is "dead room", and then add reverb to taste...there's so many great reverb plug ins in Logic Pro now...sometimes you can experiment with live rooms that just turn out great...I guess that's just how music can be...thanks for being such a sharing presence for musicians, and hope you and yours are doing well!

What if you don,t have nothing like this except your instrustrent or simply your poorly presence and yuor voice because there isn,t any electricity supplying the amplifiers? During my times spending at many festivals this sitituation hasn´t been so unusual but the ways how the artists have found their manic different ways to deal with this circumstances was very inspiring diffrent and teaching about all the s..t of life. Best example was legendary Eric Burdon. Funny tale for a time when lights are totally off

Yeah right. Making the room as dead as possible will only get you a sound without definition, without a unique tone, without life basically. I don‘t understand why so many people fall for her and her musical „expertise“
